JID's intelligence sources indicate that Russia is engaged in a massive stepping-up of espionage activities in Europe and North America. This has
been confirmed by a former high-ranking member of the Russian domestic security service, the Federalnaya Sluzba Bezopastnosti (Federal Security Bureau
or FSB).
The Sluzba Vneshnei Razvedka (SVR), Russia's civilian intelligence service, is said to have received a direct order from Russian President Vladimir
Putin to radically increase foreign intelligence-gathering activities.
In their efforts to recruit members of Russian ÈmigrÈ communities abroad, the FSB and SVR often use coercive methods. These include threats to
fabricate prosecution cases against potential targets, who may be accused of committing various crimes in Russia prior to emigrating.

even to-day -with its appalling hype, commercialism and gutter-journalistic marketing -techniques - "Jane's" is still not a source that Estragon
immediately consigns to the toilet (fond memories of when Jane's was good); but I would advise any reader mad enough to stray into this topic and
count the "alleged"; "claimed"; "appears" list.
Should that not convince you, a brief search on the appalling Litvinenko - who had his 15 seconds of fame a couple of years back trying to psuh a
book claiming Putin was a drugs warlord - should clarify for you that this man is a media-hack and that the letters "R", "A", "P", and "C"
(albeit re-arranged) are the only appropriate response.

..why a source with Jane's (rapidly rotting) pedigree should release garbage at this level, just now, would merit some useful discussion.
