U.N. resolutions have about as much meaning as a piece of toilet paper, and are about as useful to be honest. For one they don't have the authority
to legislate anything. Two eradicating religon would ultimately put the world in utter chaos especially considering that so many people feel that it
is a means to control people why would you rid yourself of a means to do just that?

All I see is a proposal from some people that can't afford to keep their website running that was sent to the UN. That and a couple posters taking it
as gospel truth.
I hear Elvis and the Grey Council of Alpha Centauri signed the proposition and it was witnessed by the disembodied head of Walt Disney.

Prepare for the "END"
The UN will decide this week to ban Religion because of the Wars and problems it causes around the world. It will vote this week on a resolution to
outright ban all religions and sub-religions especially cults and extremists.
Goodbye all, hello "ARMAGEDDON"!!!
GOOHMP
What a fantastic idea! I wholly agree with this resolution, where do I vote?? - it's just too bad it's not really true Nice try though...if only.
Armageddon? I don't think so somehow. If anything is going to precipitate Armegeddon - it's religious extremeism - so a ban would help prevent it if
anything...

Everyone take note: This happened in April 2007 and the ban is on "Defaming Religion" and not religion.
ATHEISTS WARN PROPOSED U.N. BAN ON DEFAMING RELIGION THREAT TO FREE SPEECH, CHURCH-STATE SEPARATION
Newswire Services April 2, 2007
The measure, passed 24 -14 (nine abstentions) by the U.N. Human Rights Council called upon governments to "take resolute action to prohibit the
dissemination including through political institutions and organizations of racist and xenophobic ideas and material aimed at any religion..."

Just a little hint to the op, please read Revelation again. You seem to have missed the part that the world worshiped the Beast and the image of the
Beast. Sounds like religion is here to stay in one form or another.
As if the UN in its current form can enforce anything...NOT!

At this point, I am going to only respond to this.
Grady, first off, thank you for actually providing a link to us on this issue.
Secondly, after reading through it, and the points it is trying to profess, and after living in a world that has a history of it's nationalism that
with a base, at times, of religious belief has condemned us all by our leadership into living in a world of war, why we condemn such a resolution?
This in my opinion makes sense, if ever an organization gathered enough gumption to realize that a petty sense such as religion is a provacateur to
war, it should be controlled as far as the aspect of hatred towards a religion.
I have many reasons to dislike the UN, but this isn't one I am going with. The title is not correct, imo, and the purpose is to allow some people to
dictate the common sense of most people in an effort to push their personal agendas.
From the source that has been provided by someone other the OP, who didn't bother:
"take resolute action to prohibit the dissemination including through political institutions and organizations of racist and xenophobic ideas
and material aimed at any religion..."
Taking resolute action to prohibit the idea of racist and xenophobic ideas aimed at a religion. Let's see, Muslim extremism (if you believe it all)
would be counted in this. Christian extremism (if you believe at all) would be counted in this. Yet, all I am reading from the OP is a "you'll see"
and "you'll know."
I'm sorry but I need a better reason than that from a thread starter to take notice of something that solely in my opinion is a decent thing to do.

finally Some Sanity In This World
FINALLY ALL THE RELIGIOUS FREAKS WILL BE BAN!!!
too bad we had to wait 3000 years for this victory.
but i have a question, have anyone seen the south park episodes.
go god go part 2 and part 12?
the episode shows a future world were religion doesnt exist, but still a problem there is a war, between atheists and other kind of group of
atheists
i wonder if is gonna be the same.
anyways, is UN bans religion, all the religious freaks will start a war against the atheists and the world. it will be chaos
but hopefully, they will be waiting for their "rapture"
But Of Course, this sounds too good to be true.
[DENY THE HOLY SPIRIT]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As has been previously pointed out, the UN ban addresses saying bad things about religion. It does not ban religion itself.
Don't say bad things about Jesus. The UN will sanction you and take away your Pez.

So much for freedom of speech eh?
But then again who is it going to hurt most? - other religious groups, catholics cant say bad things about protestants or muslims, muslims cant say
bad things about christianity and so forth.
But hey atheists CAN still criticise them all

I am new hello to you all.
In every country I have visited they all believe that their religion is the right one.
It might be a good thing if religion was banned?
Why?
People would ask why? Chaos would begin.
West vs East and North vs South etc!
THEN the "END" of religion.
My family was brought up Catholic but its mostly "FALSE"!
Sorry

Yep - it is False alright. As are all religions. Absolutely and completely false!
Read your history books folks! It's VERY easy to reveal organised religion for what it is: a SCAM.

Yes - and what was meant by the term 'The Beast'? The Roman Empoeror, that's who
It has no connection with modern history at all! Revelation is all about Israels' ancient struggle against Roman occupation. Period.
