A comet that suddenly brightened earlier this week has astronomers around the globe fascinated. And the show could go on for some time.

This can be a nice skywatch these days. Maybe we all can spot more then that.

We had a our first clear night last night since the outburst, and I could see it easily in spite of the full moon. Through cheap binoculars, it was clearly a comet, although there is no discernable tail.

I just saw it. Northeastern Pennsylvania, October 29, 7:35 pm EDT (23:35 UT/GMT).

It is about halfway between Cassiopia and the horizon. It looks like a medium-faint star to the naked eye, but it looks like a very big fuzzy star through the binoculars -- like a ball of fuzzy light, about 10% the size of the Moon (at least in my estimation...does anyone know the real apparent size as seen from Earth?) No discernable bright center -- just the same diffuse brightness from middle to edge

I'll check again later tonight when it is higher in the sky.

Very cool, but not as impressive as Hale-Bopp. I guess I was spoiled by Hale-Bopp
