I haven't heard anything about a 'United Russia' program -- anyone else? Topic seems to be lacking around here, anyway, in depth article about some
people rallying for him.

Putin is popular because his agenda is rebuilding Russia to become a major player on the world arena again. The russian people are behind him.
I think its probably good for world peace to have a strong Russia. The power balance depends on not only the US controlling the world.
Then again, we will probably see a new cold war because of it. Russia will not stand by seeing the US build more and more weapons, and China probably
wont either.
