My Grandmother passed away last night and I spent the last year tending to my girlfriend and her dying ex-husband and child. Her child started calling me Daddy just before his Father died and I always took him in as my son. I was there for his Father as he was dying, whispering poetry into his ears, giving him water when needed, holding his hand, letting him know that I'd always be there... just as he wanted me to be... even there for 13 consecutive hours two nights before he passed tending to him. After he passed my now ex-girlfriend went psychotic (maybe always was? Not sure)... and we eventually broke up but not before she began talking to another man that she met on myspace previous to us getting back together again (we had broken up)... so I'm torn... I'm weak, but I find strength in my vulnerability through creative expression and I'm miserable... but I made this song... and I'd like to share it... maybe I can record it and play it here sometime in the near future. It's a mixture of all the events that have recently transpired.

When I say I love you I mean it,
I'll be by your side 'till your dying days,
So when I say forever you better believe it,
Or please just leave it.

Who's gonna be there when you take your last breath?
Who's gonna be there to see your final smile?
Will you smile? Will you smile? Will you even smile at me before you go?
I will and maybe with tears in my eyes.

We all meet as these crossroads between birth and death,
and I won't be the last one left,
So I'll cherish you while you comfort me,
Please won't you comfort me?

Please don't scream it makes us all weak,
I can't take it anymore so I leave,
I'm trying to be strong but I'm really broken down,
With a wounded heart I leave it all behind.

Who's gonna be there when you take your last breath?
Who's gonna hold your hand?
Will poetry be whispered into your ear as you slowly terminate from this Earth?
Will you remember the first laugh?

I'm watching you deteriorate away,
Who's gonna be there to see your final smile?
Will you smile? Will you smile? Will you even smile at us before you go?
I will and baby with tears in my eyes.

So who's gonna be there?
Who's gonna be there?
You'll hold my hand and I'll take your last breath,
With tears tumbling down my cheeks I'll water your lips.

Tell me goodbye with a closing of eyes,
Looking straight at me through the last beat of your heart,
With a tumbling of tears, yeah I'll fumble all my tears,
After all of these years I've come to accept it and goodbye to my fears.

Terribly sorry you had to go through all of that. Love can break someone down and remold them to be a stronger person, or it can destroy a life. Just stay strong and with your friends here at ATS, you will make it through all your worries.

A noble, but heartbreaking duty.

Give yourself time to heal from the experience. I think that later you will find that your kindness and service in this matter has given you a great insight into your own strength of character and depth of compassion.

Thank you all for your support and soft words.

I'm finding that I can use strength from my "weakness" and that there really is no weakness if you seek only benefit.

LastVoice, can I address you this way?

You have all my passion.
Most of what you express resonates with my experience.
Please taker your time.
If people are in-compassionate leave them behind they don't deserve your presence.

I'm sorry you had to go through bad times. Your song is beautiful. It is evident that you learned many lessons.

IMO the greatest gift we can give a person is our time.
