Stop to think for a moment, apart from possible terrorist attacks, or Contact, or Earthquakes or Armaggeddon, could any massive changes be right around the corner?

Before you think on what I mean by massive changes, I'll get to what I want in this thread.

We have so many things happening right now, its nuts.

We have the SkyCar's final models in production, we have the type of electronic engine that sits in every tire and allows maximum efficiency, we also have the car that runs on air, but needs another type of fuel to run the compressors, and we have a replacement for electrolysis that removes pure hydrogen from water, all you need is water, oxygen, and aluminum! We also have plans for massively released hydrogen cars, it seems like the automobile will be entirely revamped within 10 years!

We could have SkyCars that run 90%+ Efficient on hydrogen!

Apart from that: We're going to make a base on the moon. A permanent base 4 days away at mach 10!

We're gonna put drills into Europa, we've found water for sure on Mars, we have 2 functioning rovers there, and we have a new space race to see who gets there fastest, with 4 possible competitors no less!

Two new generations of telescopes are coming out this decade, one type is HUGE, as in the 20-100 meter range, the other is gonna be in space, and will be able to see earth-sized planets and smaller up to some 500 light yrs!

For the new moon & mars missions, theres gonna be a new fleet of space vehicles.

We have the X-Prize competition coming to a close, with over 20 competitors, 60%+ of them look like they are actually gonna get people up into space 2 times and return!

WaterCars, 3-4 of them coming out soon, all can go about 40mph on water and 140mph on land!

Tons of absolutely amazing stuff is right around the corner, and we've gotta wait for it, what I'm trying to do is compile a list of all the amazing things due to be released or done in the next 20 years.

Think about what amazing things you've heard of that aren't cataclysmic, and that are actually happening.

Even if they are cataclysmic, if it is 100% going to happen, post it!

Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal to brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, that's the way it is
Bridge w/ changing ad libs
Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
Repeat
-2-
I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kids. "I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is
Bridge
Talking:
We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.
-3-
And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's more on the streets than war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the facts givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp smack you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some punk that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh
Bridge 'til fade
Some things will never change

Sorry, I had to do it

Changes
David Bowie

I still don't know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Don't tell t hem to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Where's your shame
You've left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can't trace time

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace I'm going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Oh, look out you rock 'n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strain)
Ch-ch-Changes
Pretty soon you're gonna get a little older
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can't trace time

What you think that I am going to let you corner the market on being annoying. No chance!

You two killed this topic..

Anyone have any real replies? Predictions about emerging technologies?

Yes.

Most technologies beneficial to the planet will continue to be suppressed by merchants of the quick buck and the industry captains who are locked into plant and equipment and dependency on fossil fuels for far too many years to come.

Penalize social bads, polluters, wasters and non-creative depleters and you may see some progress, but not in the US.

This subject is not so weak that breaking into two songs would spell Topicicide, is it?

We already have a basis for great change. Love him or hate him Gates contribution to science is invaluable. The speed of computers is enabling science to move at a greater pace. My father grew up listening to radio, going to the theatre to see moving pictures. If I could go back to that time and tell him that one day he would be able to communicate with Achmed, half the way around the world from his livingroom, what would he have thought? And it's just starting. I see anything possible in my lifetime.(God I hate being a two fingered typist.)
