Oil Tops 90$ - Stock Moves -- Wag the Dog?

articles.moneycentral.msn.com

Crude closed at $90.46 a barrel, up 3.9% from Tuesday, thanks in parts to surprisingly low inventories of crude in the United States and continued worries about Iran and its nuclear research program.

The rise pushed the Amex Oil Index ($XOI.X) 1% higher to 1,475, and the Philadelphia Oil Service Sector Index ($OSX.X) moved up 0.7% to 298. ConocoPhillips (COP, news, msgs) was up 2.5% to $83.69. Anadarko Petroleum (APC, news, msgs) jumped 2.7% to $56.95.

Some major stocks declines and MS seems to be the only success aside from big oil. W/ the fires in CA seems like this is where the price could sit while tv viewers are watching a couple thousand burning acres.

By winter/next year there's mention of 4$ a gallon.

Technology stocks are on the rise in our current market. With the new deal penned between MS and Facebook, that could explain the rise in MS stock. With Oil on the rise all major car companies are coming together to combine R+D costs to speed up Hybrid and all electric car model's.....it's about time. sorry my .02

Eh, maybe -- but at the same time, they're development half of that is going pretty slow to seemingly ruin the middle class in the meantime, think about so many people that can't afford new cars, well, in the future -- they'll have to since peak oil is sooner then. . . .

Microsofts stock rise yesterday was the expectations of earnings after the close. They blew away numbers thanks to Vista and HALO 3. Stock was up another 13% after the close.

Unfortunately, Biofuel/hybrid cars are not going to halt the advance of the impeeding oil crisis; There is more at stake here than mere public convenience - for starters, we need to be able to ship that public convenience to the public; What's the point of making half a million hybrid cars when we'll be using the fuel we would have saved on shipping costs?

But yeah, asides from that - i'm sure microsoft have the next generation of software all lined up for the next few years - Windows Vista 2008 edition anyone?

I don't even like this ver of Vista -- seriously, there's a 2008 version? Ah, and I'm thinking about going back to XP sometimes.

Nah, merely speculating on the probability that microsoft will be resurrecting it's tried-and-tested method of fabricating previous programming models.

I'm not a corporate spy, honest!

Actually they had a recent pop when they gave their numbers. They had huge numbers on the ipods again and the iphone thing.

Stock jumped big time after release. Honestly, the OS could only hurt them, not help. Any delay would hurt again. The expectations are so huge on this one, that not blowing away expectations would be seen as a bad thing. Good news often leads to "not good enough" mentality here on wall street. Buy the potentional, sell the news!

Well the OS is not a "major" update in anyway. However, it does setup some great standards for personal secruity at the core of the OS. This well make it more attractive for other computers users to make the switch to a MAC. 1.05% gain in stock today....well lets wait until the quaterly numbers to find out the real score.

vista is the worst operating system that Microsoft came out with, it even makes the owner of the computer unfriendly to the embedded over security programs.

I had to get my old xp lap top that I recently replaced with a sparking new vista one and do my gaming in it.

Is even unfriendly to Microsoft base games.

!!!! what a joke of a system!!!!!!!
