Any ideas about this one? A Dutchman levitates outside the Whitehouse claiming to have learnt it in India.

Levitating Dutchman

Another Chris Angel maybe or the real deal?

I'd like to see him do it without that stick next to him for starters.

Any chance of a clue? Just done a search and did'nt come up with anything.

Just a tip, now and again people make mistakes here and commit the ultimate sin of posting a subject already being talked about.

It's often deemed helpfull and dare i say it, courteous to stick a link in your post to show the ongoing thread.

Cheers,

CX.

Why does he have that stick?! It looks kind of like he's leaning on it!

Looking at the figure provided in the thread it makes sense now. You can actually see the guy trying to center his body by leaning towards the bar affixed to the "mat"

Hyzera is right on target. It's an old and almost laughable 'illusion'.

It takes five elements to perform this trick:

1. The sturdy, flat base plate on the floor to prevent him from tipping
over.
2. The large rug over the flat base plate to hid it.
3. The sturdy vertical rod extending up from the base plate.
4. The 'perch' for him to sit on extending out at the top of the rod
5. The small rug he sits on to hid the 'perch'.

Oh, there's one more element! You have to be able not to laugh out loud as you sit foolishly on this contraption that fools no one!

Somebody should kick that stick real hard. Flying Dutchman would become the hurting Dutchman.
