I think you're missing the whole point that the gov't feels that they need to tell us how to live our lives. If it doesn't impede on anyone else's rights, it should be legal. Anything contradictory to that is NOT freedom.

I'm pretty sure, psychologically, this makes total sense.

"Wear a seatbelt, it's for your own good."

"Don't worry, militarized police forces keep you SAFER."

Hah.

And before anyone wants to burn MY reply, I can totally see why anyone would think this to be garbage and ridiculous, as seatbelts CAN save lives... But maybe these people should review their lifestyle and see if maybe they have been conditioned to think this way, or also take into account seatbelts CAN also lock you in your car and get you burned to death.

My relationship to power and authority is that I'm all for it. People need somebody to watch over them. Ninety-five percent of the people in the world need to be told what to do and how to behave

Typical Austrian ideology. Just joking! Oh wow I hope others find that funny and I'm not making an ignorant and possibly offensive joke for nothing.

SeatBelt laws are about 1 thing....

Saving Insurance Companies money

Sure, it's a lot safer to use seatbelts, but that should be one's own choice.

Insurance companies were losing a lot of money from all the death benefits and law-suits from car accidents

Seat belts safe life's, it saved my life before in a car accident years ago.

What do you want?
1. Don't wear a seat belt & have your face hit windshield and break your nose/go through the windshield and die.

2. Wear a seat belt and live to see another day.

Plus better to be safe & alive than dead.
The government is finally doing something right
, which is very rare.
NWO plot for world Domination?

That's good it saved your life, but the government is not your mom or dad. They're just there to protect The Law (Constitution). It should be mandatory for children but optional for adults - just like smoking and drinking, or do you believe that should be banned, too?

Of all the laws passed by the New World Order to control us, I seriously doubt that seat belts are one of them. Some laws just happen to get passed because people are concerned. Not everything is about the NWO.
I disagree. It’s a nanny state law that seems innocuous. That’s how Fabian socialism works... in increments.... cause everybody thinkingbexactly what you just says. Like Jonah Goldberg’s book, “Liberal Fascism”, Smokey face with mustache, the nanny state loves you abd knows better than you what’s good for you. Jonah cites animal
Rights and vegetarianism as two things Hitler was known to espouse. I am mildly surprised how many people here go for the nanny statism.

Strapping down objects in a speeding vehicle is common sense. Sudden stops turn those bodies into flying debris.

Yes it is common sense. The question is do we need a nanny state to make us do it ? Whatever did we do without the government to take care of us. That is real fascism though.... not necessarily nationalism.

Fascism me fine arse. If I'm going to help pay to reassemble the bits as part of our Universal Health Care, I'm quite comfortable in saying you wanna travel in a vehicle, you can buckle up.
