intermingled photons

say you have 2 photons that have been intermingled that are going towards 2 polorization sheets of unknown direction. they both have to get through. how do they send the signal JUST b4 the first one hits the filter. and lets say they were 2 light years apart. would this mean that it is instantaneous? faster than light?
