I know we are not supposed to post our approval of other posts this way, but Val that was great. A true classic. 2 thumbs up

Personally I'm just tired of being attacked as a Christian and it's usually by people that pull obscure text from the Bible and make some claim. The point is that it's tough enough for me to understand everything in the Bible and I've been a Christian since 1989. It just gets old for people to make assumptions with little or no real experience in translating scripture.

Seems every day on ATS someone is attacking Christianity and I take that quite personally. Seems as long as you attack someone indirectly, anything is fair game but I would rather someone call me every name in the book than to attack my Faith and my God. It just breaks my heart when I see some of the terrible things posted by nonbelievers. We are portrayed as goofs and crackpots by the media and movies and are constantly being pushed to prove this or that. Atheists seem to have a particular preoccupation with Christians and I just can't figure that one out. Maybe it's because deep down they really do want there to be a God, I just don't know.
Unfortunately it's in vogue to single out the Christian and maybe because a Christian is not going to strap on a bomb and blow up a bus full of school children if you upset them.

It's called "Faith" and I just don't feel that it's my job to prove anything to anyone. Yes we sometimes talk about our Faith allot but it's only because we want everyone to be saved. In other words we witness out of love of our fellow man. If someone doesn't want to hear it that's fine I can go on my way. Many people claim that Christians force "Religion" but I just don't see where that is the case.

As I've said, I'm tired of debating my Faith and just would rather people said nothing and went on their way. I am almost to that point and often just abandon a thread because as a Christian I can't even get heard above all the noise. Ask me how my Faith makes me feel or how it has blessed me or anything positive but if you want a debate, I'm finished.

One final note: Please don't assume that "Religion" and "Faith" are both the same thing. I am a Christian but a Christian of Faith not Religion.

Like the wind, God may not be visible but He is there. That is my Faith.

I used the word 'cringe' because I've seen peoples' backs up to the wall. Myself included.

Frustration and passion kicks in.

I've seen myself be at a loss for words; overwhelmed. But after a step back from the situation, I can calmly sit myself down at the table for further discussions.

What ever the topic may be, I've seen people cringe at the mere mention of said topic.

Some people can handle alot on their plates, no not too much fizzes them.

I won't go into the schematics of this word.

'Cringe' is all in the matter of perspective.

I see there are a few believers here that are quite elequent with their posts. Kudos!

Tell me, is it easier to type our thoughts out, then to speak things out verbally?

Mabey some people are microphone shy?

No.

I'm not going to assume for anyone here or otherwise.

This thread was started for the soul purpose of finding out 'why' not many believers didn't contribute to Dave's interview.

What you quoted of me was 'my opinions alone'.

Troll?.... Where?

I've taken the time and effort to post 'my opinions', listen to others, digest words, and reply in a civil and decent manner to all.

All I ask for is the same courteous manner from others.

Name-calling is uncalled for.

Courtesy is Mandatory

Let's keep it civilized please...and stay on topic.

You're the pot calling the kettle black, buddy. "Those wishing to come before the tribunal must themselves have clean hands". But, don't worry, there's a LOT of tolerance by the mods for anti-religious trollery in here.

Just don't troll next time and I'll call it even.

Fair enough. You are searching and that is a good thing. Good luck with your endeavor.

Not everyone likes notoriety. That is probably the answer to your original question. It speaks nothing of a persons character if they don't like to be part of the entertainment. That is not Cringing and trying to push people into something they don't want to do is not encouragement. You would do far better to ask reasonable questions of Christians and you will get answers if you let them respond. Cringe is a negative word and it started out your thread in a way that would make a reasonable person think you were trolling. Don't blame people for their responses. Making friends is a far better way to attract people and get information you desire.

Ayup, the anti-religious are just using this thread as another shallow excuse to bash Christians. The Christians aren't afraid to speak up, there's a plethora of threads to attest to that.

This is one of the most pathetic antireligious straw man threads I've seen in a long time.

Maybe so.

I am just pointing out that many Atheists have adopted the same aggressive tactics used by Evangelicals to promote Christianity, in order to promote their own beliefs (or lack thereof, sorry!). When an Atheist seeks opportunities to promote his ideology, IMO, he is no different than an Evangelical Christian.

Thats all I have to say about that, I have said my peace and counted to ten.
