From past and what I think is present. I am a Russian Orthodox Christian and most of us are considering returniong to Russia. Russia and the US look good on paper but they disagree with us most of the time and warn us not to do stupid military s@##.

NOTE TO MODS.... Are symbols in place of bad words okay???

They7 warned us about iraq.... Now they are talking about the Caspian sea region. Russia has more in this then the media reports. That is why they put out all this stuff. Now when Russia was commie they fell into the NWO plans. But then there was a sudden breach of security if you want. Now they want control again. Putin has slowly but could possibly return the natiuon to commie. ...... This is interesting.......... They do have a nuke bigger then ours too.... google vids for the tsar nuke....

That is an interesting theory. Very well thought out and explained.

I think you have the right idea as far as where the US has set it's sights, but I think the motive behind it is oil and money. Not so much to compete with Russia and China as super powers in a new cold war or to invade their territory, although further acquisitions would keep the US in the #1 spot. I don't know.

I do know that I to find all this recent news disturbing and see a similar pattern with the last 2 WW's.

At least one thing that is good for a laugh. With all this going on, Condi decides that NOW is a good time for a Palestinian State.

There seems to be forces at work here that everyone seems to know about but not sure how to thwart. This war is exactly what is supposed to happen and believe me, they want it. If we are all unwitting pawns in a NWO chess game then it seems to me we should simply stop playing. Perhaps it is time for a world wide strike of some kind to let these chess masters know we are on to them and are tired of playing thier game.

This is all about saber rattling. The Chinese are not going to start a war with the US now, or even in the near future. Why? They currently enjoy a huge trade deficit with the US, to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars a year. To destroy relations with your number one trade partner, and the dominant force in the WTO, and IMF would be very unwise, and would throw the brakes onto the Chinese economy. What's more, if the US and China were to go to war, it probably wouldn't be a small one, and this would disrupt financial markets across the world, almost certainly throwing the global economy into the toilet. As was said earlier, nothing short of a direct attack upon the Motherland would start a war between China (up and comer), and the US (global Hyperpower).

As for Russia and Putin, they are making all sorts of noise lately. They have never really supported the Iranians because they agreed with their position (far from it in fact), but rather they supported them just to anger the Americans. The Iranians deal with the Russians because, quite frankly, they have the nuclear techonology that they want, and its cheap thanks to the still weakened Russian economy. Russia would love to earn a few extra billion, and Iran has some money to spare.

A war between Russia and the US is very, very unlikely at this point. Russia is in no shape to get into a conflict, and they have indeed fallen behind the techonology curve. Russia has plenty of men, and plenty of Cold War era tanks, but a fat load of good that will do them, as they can barely project their force into Europe, nevermind the Mid East.

I admit - I have no clue as to the motives or the US (or Bush - Cheney team - however you want to have it). But during the last few years it struck me that US is not only concerned with oil, and there is a larger meaning to its race for influence around the world. Some of its actions can be explained in terms of oil. But then US firmly supports Ukraine and wants a missile shield in Czech Republic - which obviously has nothing to do with Iran. What do these actions have to do with oil? Oil is part of the plan no doubt, but you can't rule out preparations for a Cold War of sorts. I personally don't believe in Cold War 2.0, but the recent developments seem to suggest something.

But then US actions do seem to be short-sighted - only concerned with benefits in the near future. It is like US taking a dump on Latin America in the 50's through 70's, and now it is payback time with the likes of new Socialist anti-US leaders in Venezuela, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, etc. US actions around the Caspian suggest the same arrogance about long-term sentiments of the local countries. So I really have no idea what US is trying to do - and I have a feeling many in the US feel the same way. I am just observing.

Well China is being brought up alot, but all is quiet between US and China (and Russia and China for that fact) right now, if only as far as the media is concerned. But US and Russia? There is obviously more between Bush and Putin than we understand. They are friendly one moment. Then they criticize each other. Then they make up. Then they are back to criticizing each other. That is why I don't think that we need to pay attention to every exchange of words like this, because for all we know it will seasaw back and forth. Maybe they just didn't make up the mind if they truly want a conflict with each other, or maybe it is all a stunt for the media. But if a stunt, then what for?

I doubt there will be any large scale wars, at least in Iran. US is not in a position to attack, Putin knows this and but still being vocal about. I think the conflict will instead turn to the smaller countries where it is easier for US or Russia to contain - and as I said Azerbaijan and Georgia seem to be the prime contenders for the next proxy war.

Any time the US starts a large war, it ultimately gets sucked into it and the public support disappears (Korea, Vietnam, Iraq). But the small wars almost always go over very well, because they can be easily contained (such as Yugoslavia).

thats funny , the last time Israel went in 2006 in lebonan , 50 merkavas were totally blown up and reduced to scrap metal by hezobollah(using kornet and RPG-29) out thier 500 + tank force , and Israel failed in its mission ....

also syria and particularly Iran have a massive conventional missile force and syria has massive levels of chemical artillery near Israel's border , enough to ensure MAD

Israel's war against Hezbollah wasn't against conventional forces. It was against Hezbollah guarillas holed up in underground bunkers.......

MADD is definately not assured with a rocket force against Israel or they would be already wiped off the map. With Israel's superior air force and nuclear missiles any country threatening the sovereignty of Israel will be wiped clean of their offensive ability in a rather short duration of time.

You are also factoring out the US. This can't be done considering the fact that it's been said many times any threat to the sovereignty of Israel is a direct attack on the US.

The primary reason that Israel struggled against Hezbollah was because they were in hardened bunkers. The same year Israel pressed Hezbollah they had chosen not to purchase bunker buster bombs from the US which would have helped them tremendously against the holed up Hezbollah. I believe against the hardened bunker headquarters of Hezzbolah they used tons and tons and tons and tons of conventional warheads. They did not successfully penetrate the cement walls.

I have a long list of I told you so's for the Bush Administration.

My guess is Russia and China will retaliate and with a vengence. To those who do not think it is possible, read the book of Ezekiel. The players are there, all we need is the popcorn and a box seat to watch it happen. I am not saying they will win, but it could get very serious for our troops that are in harm's way.
