First Baby Boomer Files for Social Security

Awww crap! I am never going to be able to retire!! For those of you who know more about this, what is the difference between a 401k retirement plan and social security???

80 million people were baby boomers and they will all be filing for social security soon enough. What does this mean for the economy? Aren't we already almost in a depression?

Social Security, every worker puts into it, and pays for those on security now. So your paying for the elderly right now. and when your a senior citizen, the younger generation is paying for you.
401(k) is something that you save up for yourself, if your job has it, you have put a certain amount of your paycheck into your 401(k) plan, so your relying on yourself for your retirement, not on the government and the younger generation paying for you
