ATS Going Main-stream or Vice Versa?, page

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed how much more closely main-stream media (MSM) is mirroring ATS and other alternative news web sites?

When I first started lurking at ATS this past summer, I really did not notice a signifcant number of similar stories being covered on ATS as well as the MSM but now I notice it at least every-other day. I am very watchful of the MSM and I really think I would have picked up on it before now if it was an existing trend.

Is this pattern indicative of the fact that more and more people are dubious of main-stream media sources and therefore MSM is trying harder to capture an audience and is more willing to push the alternative news envelope? Or is it that ATS has become more main-stream due to its growing membership? Or (gasp!) is it an indication that people are "waking up" to the fact that all is not necessarily how it seems in the world?

A few of the bigger stories I have noticed recently:

- The Israeli strike on Syrian nuke facilities (broke about 3 - 4 weeks ago on ATS but is just now getting picked up by main-stream sources)

- The B-52 / missing nukes (broke on ATS at least a few days before main-stream sources)

- Morgellons (broke on ATS eons ago but in the MSM this week)

There are countless smaller examples that I am sure other ATS members would notice as well.

Another thing that I have noticed is that, recently, there seems to be two primary types of threads started on ATS. Ridiculous conjecture or what I call "tabloid" threads (reptilians, demons, unverifiable personal experiences and opinions) and "breaking news stories" already covered elsewhere by the MSM or other sources. Both of these types of threads aren't typically framed in a context that would lead to any real discussion or debate. Just reporting and opinion that results in arguments and personal attacks.

I think this needs to be corrected. I think the criteria for posting in certain categories may need refinement or better enforcement. What that looks like I don't know but as evidence of this point, the definition of "breaking news" is posted in the forum on almost a daily basis. Also, I notice a decline in science-oriented threads, with the exception of those related to space exploration and earth changes.

Any thoughts on this ATS?

You are right - the news is very skewed to American interests. Haven't you been reading all the threads on ATS? We rule the world through money and intimidation.

Yes, I am an American so I can only bring an American MSM perspective to my posts. The examples I used in the OP are timelines from American MSM.

I'm sure you will be happy to agree that Americans are slow. Are you just cheesing for a fight today or do you have something interesting to add to the thread? Either way, I'm game.

Thanks for the reply. I hadn't thought about your second point before. I believe you are right.

I kind of thought more members would have a position this topic. Especially, the ATS veterans.

FYI to all you ATS sleuths out there. A MOD posted the infamous "Remember, remember the fifth of November" mantra in a thread with a similar topic to this one -

"Above Top Secret Foresight":
www.abovetopsecret.com...

Maybe the "revolution" will be how much more accessible to the mainsteam ATS will become, possibly due to an affiliation with some other media source.

Well... it is very likely a "revolution" of either technology or content. With the quality of threads lately, let's hope content is at least a part of it!

Just a guess, as I haven't paid too much attention to all of the viral marketing, mostly due to a lack of time and slow dial-up. Curious though.

Anyway, several more stories this week first appearing on ATS a few days before MSM. I swear it's like people at CNN, Fox and MSNBC just surf ATS and ALT News sites all day. Where can I find a new and revised ATS. It's getting crowded in here.

When he says Main Stream Media, he is refering to the alphabet media programs on the television, and what is printed in the news papers, such as the New York Slimes, or the Washington ComPost.

It is true that we on here do use many forms of the mainstream to get our data, but we also pick out stories that come from indepent news sources, and agencies, but our members have been at breaking events at the time they were breaking, and were able to give a first hand report about what was happening, long before anything came on the MSM.

Also, there were a couple times where on the MSM TV shows, some of the Puppets quoted something off this site, verbatuim, and did not give credit, and there was another time where the CPU monitor was in sight, and on the screen was the ATS fourm. So, while they don't give credit, they do take ideas.
