I do not know the validity of this story, but I recall hearing a piece on Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell years ago about a guy who flew a small
plance (Cessna-152 or -172) into the restricted airspace. I don't recall many details or specific. I don't even remember the claims being made. But
I do recall there was some sort of recording of this incident that was played on air. I am currently looking for that piece to satisfy my curiousity.
Heck, maybe I just want to hear it again because it piqued my interest or held some entertainment (real or not) value.

There was a show on discovery channel I think where they showed a guy investigating area 51, he showed the people boarding the planes to go to area 51
that worked there. He also tried to question them but was removed from the area by airport security. They also went up in a small plane and was
escorted away from the area by fighter jets. They also went within feet of the sign that warned of death if you went any further and it showed the
gov. white vehicles coming toward them as a warning to leave. The investigator or journalist had a bristish accent, thats all I recall from the show.

well what person would give the name area 51 to somthing that didnt have anything to give away or ne secrets. its obvious theve got somthing hidden
there that they dont want NEONE to know about. remember there are many levels above top secret and above presidential knowledge.i would definately say
some sort of weapon or advanced technology, because if it was nething useful or non harmful the american government would want to be in the spotlight
again and boost there economy futher.

Hmm, yeah the details of the event I have are quite sketchy. I don't recall teh conditions surrounding this event (or non-event). I just remember it
was a single engine plane attempting to penetrate the airspace of 'Area 51' just wish I could find the recording, even if it was a hoax.

Area 51, was just from the designation on the military maps...it isn't the proper name of the area (something that seems to be a matter of quite a
bit of supposition...)
Can't recall the incident, but it sounds familiar....

Shadowman, yeah that is what I was going to do as a last resort. Figured this was a good place to start as any.
As for the designation, I did not have my Las Vegas Sectional Chart, and did not recall the "official name" at the time of posting.
Upon further investigation it is R-4808N. Thanks!

I heard that Art Bell call (many years ago). A pilot was flying over Area 51 at night (if I recall correctly) and at some point, two F-16s were at
his wingtips, trying to knock him out of control or something. Then some laser popped up out of the ground and was shooting at him and the call
stopped. That's all I remember.
And I'm almost certain it was meant to be funny, because I was laughing when I heard it. The way it built up was just... comedic.
