Red Objects and Regulus??

The last couple nights I have been noticing a blinking blue red and white star. I did some research and to me it looks like it might be Regulus. I keep seeing red objects moving around the star and in other areas of the sky.(I am not an astronmer so I can't give directions of where I see them.) My eyes aren't glued to the sky but I see them a lot whenever I look up. This goes on around 2am to 4am sporadiaclly. If any one knows what's going on please enlighten me as I am very curious as to what I'm seeing. Thanks!
