What CD would you take to exile on a desert island, and why?

Since my musical tastes change constantly with regard to rock and pop music, I'd have to cop out and say Beethoven's Sixth Symphony is the only one I'd pick if I were going into exile.

I like it because it's supposed to be a symphonic representation of a day in the country, complete with peasants partying, and a summer storm. It's the only piece of music I've ever heard that really seems to convey a story.

What's yours? Rock/pop/country/classical/jazz...whatever?

i'd have to take frank zappa's 'lumpy gravy'

there are no songs on the cd. it is a two sided sound collage'..

lots of textures buried into that. would keep me busy

It loks as though me and AD are trading cd's across the pond!!

or AD and I if you want to be picky!!

I would have to go with Bon Jovi.

Slippery When Wet. The first album I really listened to over and over!!

It's a complete classic!

I would definatly have to say Tesla's Five Man Acoustical Jam.

In exile, that would be the perfect CD to have.

Hmmm, tough question. Why do I have to take a CD, when I can take an iPod and listen to ten gazillion songs whilst sipping bourbon and coconut cocktails?

But, it the spirit of thread, for me it would be a toss up between Nine Inch Nail's Downward Spiral, or Tool's Aenimia. I'd probably go with Downward Spiral. Tells a story, lots of sounds, and you discover something new with every listen.

The Ranch Man nailed it with Dark Side of the Moon. If I were going to listen to some thing over and over until I starved to death, that would most certainly be it. I'm sure some parts would be ironic as well. Kind of like the Wizard of Oz thing, but starring YOU.
