Some may remember the executive damage done to the White House during the departure of the previous president, and you may remember that the current president didn't want to tarry in the past.

Well, thanks to the GAO conducting their investigation and the wonders of the internet allowing us access to the report from the comfort of our own home, you, too, can read of the mayhem.

The report you'll be wanting to read is: GAO-02-360.

Here's the GAO website at which you'll punch the report# into the search:

Damage included missing building fixtures, such as doorknobs and a presidential seal, computer keyboards with missing ?W? keys; damaged and overturned furniture; telephone lines pulled from the wall; telephones with missing telephone
number labels; fax machines moved to the wrong areas and a secure telephone left open with the key in it; offices left in a state of general trashing including the contents of desk drawers dumped on the floor, a glass desk top smashed and on the floor, and refrigerators
unplugged with spoiled food; writing on the walls; and voice mail greetings that had obscene messages. The list also indicated that six to eight 14-
foot trucks were needed to recover usable supplies that had been thrown
away.

Offices of the White House Office include, but are not limited
to, advance, cabinet affairs, communications, counsel, the first lady,
legislative affairs, management and administration, political affairs,
presidential personnel, press secretary, public liaison, and scheduling.

Great post TC.

It show us the real Democrat/Left face.

The same things happened in Belgium and France when socialists had to leave their officials place in the gov'.

They don't care, of course, it's with our money that they are playing, NOT with THEIR money !

"Maybe Hillary was having a bad day?? "

ROFL! That's true, she did have the reputation for a bad temper with associated fits.

Actually, at the time... weren't there reports that this was actually very common pranksterism between outgoing and incoming staff that happens with almost every transition as a "tradition"?

One of the news talking heads that used to be a press secretary said this... I can't remember...

Actually, the GAO report itself says this, and also says there were reports that it was "no worse than previous transitions," and that it was in line/consistant damage reported in other transitions.

I think there are two important things to note:
1) this sophomoric office trashing is a tradition that has a long history (and I'd bet that we could find some remarkable bits of office trashing back in the days of Lincoln et al.
2) the GAO is taking steps so that in the future, the offices WON'T be trashed.

The Clinton impeachment hawk, Bob Barr, who brought the word 'hypocrisy' to new heights by having affairs on wives with staff & being married three times ( one of the liaisons while calling for Clinton's head), besides being a paid dues member of the Council of Conservative Citizens - formerly the Council of White Citizens ( known as the White Collar Klan), is the one who called for the 'investigation' - at a cost of $75K of our tax money. As Byrd & William remarked, the GAO found accusations of wrong doing baseless & without merit, with a great deal of the obvious thrown in - 8 years old stuff needs to be rotated.
That the GAO said it, that it was proven false and that it is mere urban legend has not derailed the Rabid Right Wing from spouting the lie then and from the appearance of this post, they still haven't abandoned it.
.....Does make a nice anecdote, though. I can imagine a bunch of them in the woods around the fire grunting and snorting how " Hil bad, take stuff, *WOOF*, *Grunt*, *Snort*!"
