Anyone else listen to Pandora?

I just started using it again.
I like the way you can "seed" your own radio stations, and tweak them as the songs play..You just vote thumbs up or down..And the mix of songs is altered slightly.

The songs are quality recordings, the stream is clean.
It's also free.

It's a great companion page to have up, while surfing here at ATS/BTS/PTS.

Really?

No one is using this music site?
Seems pretty simple, and streamlined..
What are you listening to on Pandora?

Right now I am hearing a band called Porcupine Tree.
Pretty cool stuff..

I am definitely a fan of Pandora. One of my old buddies from college turned me on to it, and now I have everyone that sits around me at the office listening to it.

I have a bunch of rap stations for all of the artists that i dig. Common, Kanye, Kweli, The Roots. I could go on forever.

All in all, this is a great site and worth checking out if you havent already.

Ah, Mr. Wahn.

I see you have opened Pandora's box too.
Pretty cool eh?

I've got about 6 "stations" working right now..Some are tweaked better than others. I've already become interested in some music that I hadn't heard before. It's nice how they inject a surprise now and again.

Have you discovered any new tunes this way?

I love Pandora. I've been using it for about 6 months now. No commercials except for visual ads and they play the music you want. I love how they find similar music to play. I've found lots of stuff I didn't even know I liked. Beats regular radio by a mile.

My current favorite is my Reggae station

I used Pandora in the beginning and it seemed to work initially but then it just got frustrating. The 'station' they ask you to program only is good for a few songs and no matter how many thumbs down you give they never stick to the genre that you want them to.

In my case it was electro-metal and specifically Euro electro-metal and Pandora could never find a way to stay in the bounds of that genre. An hours music at most is all I could expect at best.

IAF101,

I wonder if you got a little too specific in your genre?
A couple of my stations started getting that way too.
I added a second seed, and a third seed..to widen it up a bit.
That seems to be working.

dbates,

Thanks for the station!
got a little ziggy going now..

Well, it's not really a station..It's more like a computer generated playlist.
Based on songs, or artists that you choose. There is no direct control of the content. It streams to you. As you listen, you have the opportunity to thumbs up, or thumbs down each song..The playlist is adjusted accordingly, based on similar matches to the genre. Try it out..
I'm going to make a Frank Z station now that everyone is gone from the office..LOL

Oh so many I cant even begin to count. Its really amazing how they manage to match genre to song/group so well. It has started to get so bad sometimes, that I find myself filling endless post-its with all these new songs to find. I am a BIG fan. I just hope that these internet radio laws dont end up smothering them out of existence. That would be a shame.

The good thing about laws is that it never applies on the internet because the internet is multi-regional. So no matter what some country passes they need not apply for website in other nations.

I've been using it for a while. It's helpful when I'm looking around for new artists in unpopular fields of music (such as folk).

When I needed to learn a lot of songs in a particular genre on upright bass,
I tune into pandora, punch in the genre and play along until I get the concept, feel, basic play list. A very quick way to get an overview of a musical style for almost all musicians.

Pandora came loaded on my new laptop with Vista.

Thanks for the reminder spacedoubt, I'm putting it on now.

Slacker.com is better than Pandora IMO.
