I am referring to the TYPES of work, the TYPES of talents each TYPE of people has. In my opinion it is WRONG to make a square out of a circle and a circle out of square. No relation to political correctness whatssoever. Much more a suggestion of just what the hell is wrong with this world.

That thinking is actually very in line with the thinking some of the slave owners had, though. (Not that you intended it that way, it is just the same underlying logic) They thought that black people were very good at physical "types" of work, and that whites were very good at mental types of work. And so to them it was entirely logical that blacks should labor in the fields while they ran the business of the plantation. Of course, that same type of logic was applied to the Irish in a specific time frame by the English. As we can easily see around us today in America, the Irish were NOT only suited to field work, or as cannon fodder, or as breeding machines. Irish Americans are everywhere, from the Presidency and throughout the sciences.

The same was once thought of women, but now that the cultural barriers have fallen, women are doing as well in virtually every college subject according to test scores. They are NOT by nature suited to a specific "type" of work, domestic drudgery, or just being breeding machines.

The fact of the matter is, there is a very wide range of expression of interests, talents, character, etc., WITHIN each "group" pr class of people. More difference is found between individuals within a class than between the classes themselves.

I think that the mindset that "groups" have certain qualities is very limiting and potentially damaging, even when it is sugar coated as "different races have different gifts." Culture, personal character, class, opportunity, etc., play a large role in what you end up doing in life. Black people of the middle and upper middle classes in America seem to be doing just fine in terms of their education and their getting along in western culture.

I also reject the idea that "White people" are inherently less spiritual than any other group of people on the planet. The ancient religions of Europe were amazingly similar to those of other indigenous people before the Romans marched in with Christianity. Dont forget that Europeans were little more than "barbarians" just a 1000+ years ago.

If black people are performing vastly differently than other ethnic groups today, then I think we need to look at other factors besides their skin color. I think the most likely culprit is widespread cultural assumptions about what being "black" is. Not just perpetrated upon the black people by whites or other groups, but also perpetrated on blacks by other blacks.

I have three thoughts on this, but I'll keep it short and sweet.

1) On American blacks: Imagine yourself degraded, debased, dehumanized, and treated worse than an animal, who is at least encouraged to live up to his potential. Imagine the ugliness that has a chance to grow inside. "I deserve this." "I am stupid." "I am weak." "I can't be trusted." And then one day the chains come off your legs, but they aren't gone. The chains on the inside are made out of something harder than diamond, and every time you think you might be able to work one of them loose, some whitey comes along and says or does something to make you feel bad about yourself so he can feel good about himself. And you pass these chains on to your children. It will take many generations for this to heal.

2) On blacks in decolonized Africa: Europeans came in and built the physical infrastructure of Western civilization, but the Africans decided they could rule themselves. Denying that right is kind of a hard position to defend, don't you think? The things that make a civilization civil are subtle and difficult to teach even to those who are born into it. The only politically viable solution I see for outside help is for Western blacks to organize and drive the effort to bring social change in Africa where it is needed. I wish that weren't the case but it is what it is.

3) On spirituality: I don't how to measure that.

Can I just say that the term ''whitey'' is offensive to me just as the words ''darkie'' or ''blackie'' would be? The term was used in the opening post and I've seen it banded around since.

I will begin by stating that I just scanned a good number of posts from the begining. Lots of good arguments. Secondly I am a mixed white(greek)/black american man from Seattle, W.A. I have lived in Everett, Redmond, Sammamish, Issaquah, Monroe, and Seattle. I have also served the armed forces in the army stationed in Fort Hood Texas and served a year in Iraq. I have a very well rounded perspective on the sprectrum of black people and have faced just about every issue and situation that one could racially face from blacks and whites alike.

Yes Blacks do have opportunity, but from birth most face an uphill battle trying to obtain and hold onto opportunity. Even in success blacks still face battles that can turn their whole world upside down in a instant. The world is just simply not designed to be favorable towards black people. I challenge everyone who is reading this post to go look up the definitions of the words black and white. There are only two races that refer to themselves as colors amongst other terms; white and black. Try if you dare to find one positive entry for the word black. Than see how many positive entries that are listed for the word white. The conspiracy right in front of your eyes. Plain and simple, who are the authors of the English dictionaries, well we know they are African, that is for sure. So with out further to do I will list some Black Conspiracies;

The CIA/FBI neutralization of the Black Panthers

Weapon sales into the African inner city communities.
Yes I am sure that all those weapons came from Walmart......umm satire if your slow.

The introduction of crack into black communities, and the convience of the laws that make crack offenses so much worse than it's mother coc aine.

Than there are the drug laws that have thousands of Africans locked up in prisons for non-violent offenses. Well there goes your unproportionate number of blacks in prisons argument.....For smoking crack. Well wake up White America. Now it is your turn. (Of course just more weapons towards Blacks) Can you say Meth & Prescription medication to the extreme.

Rap. Where should I began. Hmmmm, how about follow the money trail. How is it that only a certain type of Rap hits the main stream and makes all the money. Money mostly fueled by the White American dollar, huh....you actually think those sales are coming from blacks who are locked up and dubbed tapes during the 80's and 90's, burnt cds in 90's-present, and of course mp3's have the cat out of the hat for everyone to enjoy. Records executives make sure that blacks broadcast to their own people and others who get brainwashed the fundamental subconcious brain control tactics of sex, booze, drugs, violence, materialism, and women degration as sexual objects. Of course these themes are present within white music, but of course nobody does it better that soulful blacks. Hence Rap's powerful influence influx of mind control. Now successfully reaching surburbia American. Even me, myself was caught up in the lie of Gansta Rap. Lucky for me that I know some awesome white people who have introduce me to some great hip hop over the years.

I could go on and on but I think I have made my point with the different conspiracies. Well the point is, is that for centuries White Men (not all, just the elite, who are successful in cultivating their racial poison to the masses, some except it, and some don't, and some just like to be politically correct) have used many tactics to conquer, divide, poison, brainwash, unjustly lock up, profile, disinform, etc, etc. Remember blacks can still achieve success if they are able to overcome all of these battles introduced since birth that I just named. The only difference is that now the elite have a world wide attack on everybody to control the population no matter what race you are. America is one of the best places for a black to succeed. Of course we have a history and future of obstacles. Unfortunately strongarm tactics rule

We blacks have enslaved ourselves. We permit injustices to occur because we cannot move monolithically. We kill, falsely accuse each other then run to the white man to solve our problems. We invented apartied. I have dated many black women who complained of preferential treatment of their lighter-skinned sisters in the family. Yes, there is terrible racism but we have allowed it. That is why I am learning Japanese. I am going to Japan to visit for 1 year. Before I die, I want to be in the midst of a people who have not allowed themselves to be enslaved mentally or physically. That is the ugly truth.

To support this you show pictures of National Sociaism and other Nazi propoganda.
Unless it escaped your attention Britain was at the forefront against Nazi Germany and was the first to declare war against them.
To suggest anything other is an insult to everyone who fought and particularly those that paid the ultimate sacrifie.

To lay the blame for any preceived conspiracy against 'the black race' solely at the feet of Britain, it's seat of power and it's interests shows an amazing lack of understanding of both current and past events.

We Are All Slaves to the allmighty dollar, euro, yen, etc...

As far as a 'now' conspiracy ....'I think' the Iluminati Government is setting up the black race, the followers of Islam, Muslim, and other creeds, radical or not, by running a Presidental race wherein the Republican candidate and his running mate, are they- themselves set up for a fall.

Hence the Democratic candidate secures the position. Then !... all that ensues as the result of 'the rise of the pure finance speculators, war profiteers (military industry) and their cousins, the oil extractors' ( the
proverbial 'neck high sewage' that he has jumped into), Will undoubtly be blamed on 'anything' associated with him now or from his past.

He'll be lucky to make it out alive.

Just a thought.......
What would the reaction among voters be if a black man with a 17-year old pregnant daughter was running for President ?

'America is a rogue state
that recognizes no rules but its own declarations.'

(2003 I think)
TransAfrica Forum executive director Bill Fletcher said:

"The military action against Iraq is not just about controlling oil and not even just about empire. It's about economic competition with other powers; about the Bush administration framing global capitalism in an image that it wants with its `new international economic architecture' via the IMF and World Bank. . . . This will exacerbate the increasing economic polarization of the last 20 years, further impoverish much of the globe
and send a message to all: displays of resistance will be met with force."

The possibility of real economic recovery in the United States becomes nil. It is difficult to imagine that a wounded, mostly delusional America will not resort to massive scapegoating of minorities, especially the Permanent Enemy, Black America. Someone will have to pay for the political choices of the pro-war supermajority.

These will be interesting times."

As for Africa: Either black people are not interested in building prosperity or there is a conspiracy.

Well as for Africa..well I guess first off I must say that my husband is Ethiopian I has only been in this country for about 6 six years. Any who, from what I have learned from him black peoples (well in Ethiopia and neighboring countries) want prosperity, but yes there is conspiracy and corruption there. The rebels, such as the Ogaden, terrify the government such as al-quada (or however you spell it) terrifies people in the Middle east. Though unlike Iraq the US does not send much help to places like these. I suppose they like the oil
.

Then you have to think about the images the television gives us about places like Ethiopia. Most people (and this includes me until a few years ago) thought people in this country were all starving pot bellied and hung out with flies in their eyes. When in fact (the Capitol at least) as a highly acclaimed University. Many doctors, engineers and scientist come from this country, even the maker of the Bowflex
. Ethiopia also has much history with the bible. But at the same time while there is a Hilton hotel in the city where the wealthy come to vacation, there is also the poor.

I think that one of the many problems is we tend to forget about these beautiful places and people because the media and politics keeps us focused on what 'they' feel is important. I also feel that another major problem when it comes to helping African countries is that many black people in the US like to refer to themselves as "African American', but yet make fun of the real Africans. For example my husband has been told by many American black people that he is not black or not black enough because he doesn't have a sag to his pants and could care less about bling and dubs. So I guess with all my rambling what I am trying to get at his
1 the media keeps everyone focused on other issues
2 I feel there are conspiracies towards blacks in African countries
3 Though there is still some racial tension between black and white people today, there is also much tension between black people themselves.
4 Lets forget about the oil for five minutes and try to really help people out not just in Africa but everywhere

I'm not sure if race is the deciding factor when dealing with violence. By the looks of it, it's the environment that is the biggest factor when dealing with the crime rate. If you go to a prison today, yes most of the inmates are black, but nearly ALL of the inmates came from a lower-class income neighborhood with a deplorable education system. This type of environment breeds people who are unable to think clearly and that have little moral ethics. Not because of their skin tone or their race, but because that is the "street" mentality instilled into them since birth. I know for a fact that most people that grow up in this type of environment consider going to prison to be somewhat honorable. I guess what I'm getting at is that there is a whole different code of ethics for those in this environment. We look at these criminals and automatically think they CHOOSE to be criminals for the sake of doing wrong, but actually it's because they have this whole different mentality and code of ethics they live their life by. And getting back to my initial point, no it is not only blacks (and it's definitely not all blacks) with this mentality. It just so happens that a great majority of African American families live in these unfortunate environments.

Oh, and yes I do feel that there has been a conspiracy against the Black race for ages. There has been a conspiracy for ages to stifle the true origins and knowledge of many ancient Black races and cultures. Now the conspiracy is to keep the knowledge stolen from these cultures under wraps and away from those that should be privy to this knowledge.

I don't know about that seems to me if a white person trys to establish something on the lines of the NAACP,or any other organization starting with white they are called white supremist or klan members, when have you ever heard about not enough white people in a sport? like baseball now they are saying not enough blacks playing?,I think it's pretty rediculous, lot's make fun of orientals because they live to work, and hispanics because they speak a different language,in my opinion blacks hold themselves back by crying racism everytime something doesn't go their way, thats life not everyone gets to have everything they dreamed about,I think it's time they got over it,I do agree in days growing up there were restrictions on areas for hispanic or blacks but that was 40 yrs ago

I haven't read through this whole thread, so I don't know if this was addressed or not. But in scanning the first couple pages, there seems to be some misinformation that needs to be corrected.

With regard to the "gangsta rap" culture and this being indicative of black Americans' lack of motivation for self improvement, or whatever lame argument people were giving: according to a report released in 2001, 70-80% of the consumers of hip hop music were in fact white.

With regard to welfare and black women and that whole argument, the largest percentage of welfare recipients are white women with children.

Other than that, I have nothing really to add to the thread. I just had to say something about the above because it's one of my pet peeves when people use things like "violent gangsta rap culture" and "black welfare moms" as "evidence" for black inferiority or something without knowing the true facts and without understanding the complexities of racism and poverty.
