I saw the other thread with the earth in Hi-def so I thought this would be nice if it has not been shown already.

Anyone else think the stars look like they are made in photoshop using special effects? This picture looks like a movie poster.

Its not a photograph of the moon me thinks.

Well now that you ask... yes I do I would say this is not a real photo of the moon... well almost...

The Hypersaturated Moon is available as a Fine Art Print for your wall from Noel Carboni...

It has been created by rotating the original mosaic Noel took of the moon, adding hyper saturation to get the colors and then adding the star field. The image IS copyrighted but available for computer backgrounds from Noel Carboni's website...

Astrophotography by Noel Carboni

The original is also available as a Poster...

You can see larger versions on Noel's website. Pegasus has contracted for rights to some of his images...

Also we have a really great color shot taken by Mike Deegan in the UK...

at www.thelivingmoon.com...

This is the 80% version of the original Warning it is 18 megs

Yes there is. Pink Floyd did it back in 1973. Great album then, great CD now.

Yes, Zorgon, there is a dark side of the moon and as a matter of fact it is facing us as we speak 5:55 PDT October 8, 2007. However the sun is setting and so is the dark face of the moon which is pointing towards us. But when the moon rises in the morning it will be the dark face also pointed towards us and also, apparently, right next to the sun. Thats why its dark.

The lights go on later this week, technically, October 10. But you won't be able to see them until the 12th.

Yes, Virginia, there is a dark side of the moon. And it will be there in the morning for everyone to see. That is if the sun wasn't so bright.
