I'm curious to what ATS'ers have to say about things such as the space race in regards as to how it was related to the public.

Let's start with this one from 1957:

(there's a better video on Foxnew.com for today but can't link it or find the origin)

Do you believe we were being scared through this broadcast? Why or why not?

Do you believe there has been any change in approach by government or media broadcasts since? If so how? If not, why not?

What kind of attitudes, feelings or thinking resulted from showing this video? How would you react?

How is this video different from the absolute truth?

That's as good a way as any to explain the mission in 50 seconds I guess.

Nice to see International Business Machines (IBM) got some product placement.

For those who say all UFO's are government craft, these two police officers have something else to say 10 years later in 1967:

Is it possible the government in that short time to have developed something like they are describing?

The reporters didn't go out to "farmer john" (as often is the claim) for a report. Intentionally so? Why?

Feel free to answer any questions and give perspective. I've been thinking a lot about the last 50 years, what we've been told and if there were calculated moves or merely 'good story' reporting.

Granted 1942 was during the War, the U.S. apparently opened fire above Los Angeles at a 'ufo' that couldn't be shot down after many direct hits:

The news marked the anniversary here with interview:

Are you really sure the government doesn't want you know there are UFO's? Or maybe they put out weak excuses because they KNOW they're weak, unbelieveable excuses? Does the government or media have an agenda for us believing in UFO's? That we need to be first in the global space race?
