I believe these two actors are the greatest film actors of all the time, but which one is better?

Can they even be compared?

5 years ago I would've said Al Pacino was the better of the two but he's been in some weak movies lately like Any Given Sunday, Simone, and Gigli.

So today I say Robert De Niro is the better of the two.

Al Pacino for Scarface and Devil's Advocate, although DeNiro was cooler in Heat.

What is the obession on Scarface?

It was a good movie, a classic but it wasn't Pacino's best movie.

Pacino's best movie was The Godfather. It's uncontested.

Say ello to my little friend

i love that line and wait:

"Me, I want what's coming to me. The world, Chico and everything in it."

I guess cuz it's such a good drug dealer/gansta type movie and Tony Montana was the man in that movie.

but Godfather was good too, I just like Scarface better

Overall, De Niro. Look at all the movies he's been in. Deer Hunter, Raging Bull, Good fellas, Casino, to name just a few. I loved a Bronx Tale and even the wacky roles he plays like Meet the Parents and Showtime, and the Fan.

I dunno its a hard one. Pacino was great in Scarface, Heat, and The Devil's Advocate but De Niro had alot more good movies, Goodfellas, Once Upon a Time In America, The Deer Hunter.

Overall Pacino is a much better actor and I love to see him on-screen. For movies its De Nire, acting Pacino. My personal fav out of the 2 is Pacino.

Well, they're both somehow better than Bruce Willis, Steven Seagal, Sylvester Stallone or Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Well Pacino and De Niro, unlike those listed above, actually have the luxery of being able to act well! That said, Bruce Willis has had his moments in Films like Sixth sense and the Jackle where I thought his acting efforts where not at all bad.

How Dustin Hoffman is never compared with these two I'll never know...

But I'll go with De Niro all the way, although I love Pacino.

Could any other actor do that stare De Niro does in Goodfellas when he decides he's going to kill Mori? You know exactly what he's thinking and there isn't a word uttered, true genius.

Both are favourites of mine.
I'd vote for Robert DeNiro, he is simply the BEST!!

DeNiro in Casino, his folie a deux with Sharon Stone was fantastic but Pacino is great too. I just wish sometimes they diversified away from all the 'gangsta' stuff, I know they have but not often enough for my liking, Pacino was great in Scent of a Woman and DeNiro in The King of Comedy, both roles not typical for them. More of that please.

Whoa-ho, I suddenly retract my vote for DeNiro.
He is giving up his American Citizenship and becoming
an Italian Citizen!!!

Between these 2 I will go with De Niro.

Now, as far as my age group is concerened, I think that when I am much older, I will be asking the same question about the 2 actors who I think are deserving of the passing of the torch: Ed Norton and Johnny Depp. Both are masters of their craft, even at early ages, and both are guaranteed a long and successfully varied careers full of future comparisons to these two geniuses.
