Are the Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan fighting for my freedoms here at home in America? If they were not there would I lose my freedoms? If so, how?

Would the Iraqis dip the oars in the water and row the Islamic Aircraft carrier all the way to America?

Would they hoist sail on the Islamic Battleships?

Unlike the Islamic Submarine force, the Islamic Airforce Pilots don't have to hold their breath all the time to fly the Islamic Stealth Bombers. But if they stop flapping, even for a minute, they will go spinning wildly out of control, crash and burn.

Then, of course, you have the Islamic ICBM, but everyone knows you can't peddle an Intercontinental Bicycular Missile across oceans.

So please, explain how my freedoms are being protected by these occupations? All I see is greater threats from enraging the populations.

We were a whole lot safer, richer, and more loved around the world before the Wars of Aggression launched from behind thinly veiled propaganda.

I dared not go here myself, but I am glad to know someone out there sees the military for what it is; an excuse to steal, maim, and kill in the name of freedom, freedom being money. To kill solves nothing, nor does claiming to defend something when you are most obviously an aggressor in another mans country telling him how to live.

Compare us to England before we told them to # off.




And excuse me, I didn't know the vietnamese, koreans, or the iraqies WE armed and trained invaded the continental US and put our women and children in direct danger.. Oh wait, that has never been the case, except when it comes to how we deal with people that don't live here.

Being a vet doesnt give you any special say over the average american, in fact, the average american was the one you supposedly fought for. And while I really, REALLY, hate to say it, just because YOU opted to fight against someone doesnt mean I have to respect you for it in the least. It simply goes to show that you don't know ANY better than to kill someone you don't understand when they are most likely fighting for that same reasons you were told YOU were fighting for; Freedom.

You did more damage to yourself in that statement then you could ever do to the troops. I hope you feel like a retard because you sure look like one.

You know, that's a good point but it has one tragic flaw, my employer doesn't send me out to shoot at or get shot at, and ill-equipped nonetheless. And that's not even taking into consideration whether the war is justified or not.

One thing I would like to add. I will never expect the populace to accept or understand the military presence in any foriegn country, but before you pass judgement on any soldier please take a look closer to home. We do serve here as well, you may know us as National Guard. We serve in relief efforts after natural disasters. We are citizen soldiers who are willing to be called in the middle of our lives with our loved ones to aid others in time of need. We also make up a huge percentage of deployed soldiers, mostly not by choice, but we are there. Say what you like about us, but know that if you and your state need us, we'll be there.

Why are so many people bringing up Iraq and Afghanistan?

The question you should be asking yourself is, would you still feel the same way about the military if we were not in Iraq or Afghanistan?

OK I got warned for my comments and lost 500 points for what I said. In the OP's origial post does he/she not refer to soldiers as rapists and baby killers? Was there a warning there?

I understand that most people on ATS seem to be against the US, especially the military portion, but please. Calling our servicemen rapist and baby killers....thats just not right.

Someone posts a reply stating the motivations of the OP and throwing an insult back his way and you all get up in arms over it. Why don't you complain about the original posts insults to honorable people and not my insult to the lowest form of human life...the hypocrite?

Yeah, and just for the record I don't condone the "rapist and babykiller" accusations. That being said, long drawn out wars have a devastating effect on the human psyche. Little Johnny might not have been one when he left, but he sure as hell could become one somewhere along the way. That's the governments fault, not the fault of people who don't respect or support the soldiers.
