The plan to steal the oil was pretty obvious. We created terrorists by killing babies and then putting innocent people in prisons that became terrorist breeding facilities. That is what all the generals and staff that quit said.
They all quit Bush because of the lies.

I would have to disagree with you on this. The site is administered pretty fairly along the T & C as stated. There is nothing inherently wrong with someone spouting UnAmerican nonsense and drivel even if I disagree with it vehemently or vice versa. If you ended up pleasing everyone you'd end up pleasing no one. ATS strikes a fair balance IMO.

Yeah, and just for the record I don't condone the "rapist and babykiller" accusations. That being said, long drawn out war have an devastating effect on the human psyche. Little Johnny might not have been one when he left, but he sure as hell could become one somewhere along the way. That's the governments fault, not the fault of people who don't respect or support the soldiers.

Peace

Using that logic, it is to the gov't's credit if they take a boy who is on the wrong social track and turn him into a law-abiding, disciplined, productive young man, correct?

First, sorry for the grammar.

Second, JSO, I can't follow your logic following my logic. What?

Peace

You seem to say that the gov't can turn a normal person into a rapist or baby killer. I say, following that logic, they could just as well turn a bad apple into a straight arrow.

Yeah maybe, but it's a lot more likely that a bad apple who then has a gun put in his hands and told to kill isn't going to rehabilitated in any way.

Peace

Remember...he lives on the street.

He has a gun in his hand and kills at will before he enlists, so your argument falls apart. What the military adds to his incomplete being is discipline, respect for authority, teamwork, and a whole lotta other good stuff.

I will probably be flamed for this topic, but I need to ask anyway: why in hell do we have to respect, cheer, and cry for the lowest level of human beings on earth?

First of all you dont HAVE to respect, cheer and cry for anyone. Second i cant believe you called our soldiers ""the lowest level of human beings on earth"" Whats wrong with you? Yea there are some soldiers that are bad but there are also good soldiers. The same as any where you go there is bad people and there is good people.

When a human being accepts blindly orders from someone that is exactly the same as he is, I can safely say he is simply stupid, why should I feel pity for him?

You obviously have never served in the military by the things you are saying. Let me explain something to you when you join the military you are BRAIN WASHED. Some soldiers once they go to war start figureing things out and seeing whats really going on thats when you here of people going awol and not coming back for a second tour. They are not stupid they were BRAIN WASHED. Every soldier ive talked to that served in iraq is against the war they ALL say it was a lie and there over there fighting for nothing but to stay alive and get home in one piece. OUR own government wants to take away our soldiers rights after they have went to war for some bullcrap lie our government planned so they can make money and keep up there plan for total control. They want all veterans to be disarmed because they are afraid of some people who might revolt. our government is nothing but a bunch of cowards hiding in the white house useing american soldiers for thier dirty illegal work and alot of soldiers figure it out. Our soldiers are not stupid low life scum they are people just like you who have been tricked/ brain washed into this war. OUR OWN PRESIDENT WENT AWOL TO STAY AWAY FROM GOING TO WAR

I bow to the OP's courage to bring up such an explosive topic -- and I totally agree with him. Violence begets more violence, state-ordered or not, and I don't see how that kind of "policy" can ever lead to peace... which, I presume, is what most of us "ordinary people" want. So, no, I don't admire people who only help perpetuate this vicious cycle.

If I sign up for the Army, whether in peace time or war, I KNOW there's a strong possibility that I'll be called upon to kill people at some point. I couldn't live with that, ESPECIALLY when those people -- as is the case with the Iraqis -- do nothing more than defend their own country from the invaders, i.e. me. I'm with the OP in that I would find it legitimate to defend myself or my family from a direct threat (i.e., someone standing in front of me, threatening to do us harm), but anything else, IMO, amounts to murder.

On another note, I find it extremely counterproductive when people here are starting to play the "party card," calling each other right-wingers, leftists, etc. I think this is what has wrecked this country in the first place. Instead of thinking of yourself and others as a person with an opinion, you guys always make it about partisan principles. That's probably why Bush is still in office... while many Republicans hate him, too, they may feel that they have to keep supporting him, rather than siding with the "damn leftists." Personally, I'm not affiliated with any one party and I don't want to be. I like some ideas and principles of (traditional) Republicans, some of the Democrats, some of the Libertarians, etc. But first and foremost, I'm an individual who can think for herself, period.

And when it comes to the old "Sleep well, because I defended your right to do so" and such drivel, wake up, people! You've been brainwashed and don't even know it! How come, for example, that whenever those sayings come up, they have almost always the exact same wording??? It's because those things have been spoon-fed to you by politicians and the MSM, and you're just regurgitating them. IMO, this blind obedience begins in elementary school, with the Pledge of Allegiance. And then you call everyone who disagrees anti-American. What a pathetic bunch you are.

Look at the -- much-defamed -- Europe, especially countries like Norway, Sweden, etc. Yes, they do have armies, but they haven't gone to war in ages. Have they been invaded by their evil neighbors? Do they live in misery and oppression? No. They're CIVILIZED and are maintaining civilized relationships with other countries and peoples. Which is much more than you can say from Americans, who right now look to me like Conan the Barbarian. Ooga, Ooga, you not like me, I kill you. Geez, when are you people gonna come to your senses???

I see no courage in hiding behind a keyboard and calling our military baby killers and rapists. All it takes is a network connection to do that - anonyminity provides him with everything else he needs. It shows a lack of maturity and education to speak such trash. And anyone that would "bow" to that "courage" is equally immature, imo.

They have the same wording because they are truth in essence. There's no need to spin them twelve different ways.

You really need to study history. Europe is free because of the sacrifices of millions of people who fought and died to liberate it from it's oppressors, most recently Germany. Especially the countries you mentioned.
