Oak Park (Illinois) School Bans Hugging

Hugging is now off limits at an Oak Park middle school.
The new policy went into effect at Percy Julian Middle School last month because of administrators' concerns that so-called "hug lines" in the hallways were making students late for class and causing bottlenecks in the halls, according to WBBM-Channel 2.

I can't believe this,

A ban on hugs?

A hug is one of the most wonderful things one can give and receive.

What is bad about a hug?

A hug can be many things --

Loving, comforting, reassuring..

A sign of friendship, A greeting...

Anything bad there?

I didn't think so

So why ban something that does so much good?

Maybe the administrators of that school need a BIG HUG as a reminder of the benefits from a simple hug....


How far is this crazy school stuff going?

It won't be long before our children will be banned for attending school......

I saw this on television earlier today and was a bit confused.

Further in the article, it does say that there is no punihsmnet unless students refuse to disentangle upon a teacher request.
It's supposedly part of a proram to encourage students to respect each other.
Sometimes PDAs (Personal Displays of Affection) can get a bit amorous....and disrespectful of others, imho.

I see a high probability for abuse by eighty year old widows who haven't gotten laid since the Kennedy administration.

"Don't you even think about wrapping your evil filth ridden arms around that devil spawn seductress you little whippersnapper!"

In context with all the other totalitarian BS being forced into the schools, this sounds pretty Orwellian to me. Another baby step.

At least this has squelched the group hugs dilemma.
