PODcast: VIETNAM ZIPPOS – An Interview With Author Sherry
Buchanan
I was first approached by author, Sherry Buchanan, many months ago about her book and project concerning the Vietnam War and the “Zippo
Phenomenon” that occurred there. Sherry asked if I would participate and, as they say, the rest is history. I recently received a copy of her book
and read it from cover to cover. In addition to the numerous photographs of actual vintage “Nam Zippos”, the stories of the “GI’s and Their
Zippos” are, for me, a trip down memory lane. Next to the M-16, almost every GI, whether they smoked or not, carried a “Zippo Lighter”. The
engravings on those “Zippos” tell thousands of stories about love, hate, sex, philosophy, code, honor, political stance, religion and many more.
Whether you served in Vietnam or not, every person will enjoy this historical book and the interview about the “Vietnam Zippos” with author Sherry
Buchanan.

Born and raised in Bradford, PA.
My mother's picture is on the wall at the Zippo museum and many of my relatives have worked there over the years.
Zippo is now the very lifeblood that keeps that town alive.
