*Growls loudly*

I should edit that outburst out!

UNITED KINGDOM: Constitutional Monarchy consisting of a head of state, a house of commons and a house of lords.

USA: Bush/Cheney/Ashcroft.

It's just english politeness. We like to give you the illusion of control, but we secretly run things behind the scenes. You know Bush is Blair's bitch.

j/k.

You know, i've been given that impression a few times, the USA is always working very closely with us and probably wouldn't unless they needed something that we had and they didn't

Now THAT was funny!

This news is very exciting. I don't have as much interest in which country finds stuff first because I personally feel that more will be accomplished if all of them work together anyways. More manpower, more money, more resources etc. But definitely huge congratulations to the brits on this major find.

here some detailed images of the surface of the Red Planet The pictures, taken with its High Resolution Stereo Camera, show craters, a volcano and features thought to be created by flowing water. it looking like we may have a man'ed mission to mars if there was water theres life

Actually, they say that the US probe found some hydrogen which was an indication that there could be some water there. Of course, now USA will say that they had then confirmed that there was some water just to be sure to be the first ones to find it... That's USA for me!!

Anyway, I hope they discover lots of new things with Spirit...and mostly, I hope they will tell us all they will find!!

yeah I knew that, but we did it with more style.

Besides, I'm not sure if it was a 100% confirmed then. I could be wrong though.

Howdy folks...

I thought the Viking 2 lander showed water ice (frost ) on the soil in 1979...

It shows a thin coating of water ice on the rocks and soil. The time the frost appeared corresponds almost exactly with the buildup of frost one Martian year (23 Earth months) ago. Then it remained on the surface for about 100 days

Both detected Hydrogen on Mars, but it wasn't conclusive proof of water ice. That has now been confirmed by the European Orbiter
