Australia on tsunami alert after quake

PARTS of southern Australia are on tsunami alert after an undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 hit south of New Zealand.

If tsunami have been generated, then they could start affecting southern Australia from 5.45pm and reach Sydney by 6.15pm

Many media reports are just flooding in.

The quake was 350km southwest of New Zealand and 1400km southeast of Tasmania.

This comes less than a week after NZ was hit by another big quake
