IS America Mystery babylon the great?

In the last days the Bible talks about a dominant city that is a major center of commerce that will be destroyed in one hour. Mystery Babylon The Great. The churches will tell you it is referring to the Vatican in Rome To hold the view that this Babylon is referring to the Vatican, you basically ignore 98% of the Scriptures referring to it and hold to one verse that can be easily discredited because a misunderstanding of one term in one verse that can easily be clarified. That is how warped the whole Vatican theory is that most churches and prophecy 'gurus' preach today when it comes to Revelation chapters 17 and 18. Why? Why do they want the focus on somewhere else instead of where the Bible is really speaking of?

Consider this: The former prophets all warned of this coming Great Babylon. Let's look at what each one said about it:

Isaiah said:

1. Babylon would be noted for its architecture, buildings and skyline (Isaiah 13:22)

2. Is the lone super power of the world (Isaiah 47:5,8)

3. Is the most respected and envied around the world and yet at the same time is hated by the world. (Isaiah 18:2)

10. Babylon is a land that is measured out, and populated throughout (Isa 18:2).

There is no other city or nation on earth that could fulfill these requirements other than the United States of America. There are some who hold to the view this passage is referring only to New York City. In fact, it refers to both NYC and the entire nation. The term "city" translated from the Greek means city or nation. In this instance, it refers to a nation led by its chief city, which is New York City. So in some instances it is talking about New York City, and in others the nation itself. And if you're not convinced, go back and read all these prophecies again about the last great nation on earth.

The Bible Codes confirm that America is Babylon, and that the beasts coming will rule here, will be here, and will take over and destroy this country on their way to global rule from Jerusalem.

Isn't it amazing that there are over 100 prophecies that only one super power nation in the last days could fulfill and the churches tell you today that America isn't mentioned in last days prophecies? Insane.

This is how the Bible describes its demise.

The destruction of this country will be so severe that it will be uninhabitable. Not even the light of one lamp will be found in this place. For in one day it will be reduced to rubble.

It cant be russia because russia has been invaded many times and suffered huge human and material losses.... from mongols,napoleon,hitler etc.

No, America in not mystery Babylon. All prophesy has been fulfilled. Its all over with. WE all have salvation something they didn't have. A new heaven and earth was created in a spiritual sense it wasn't something visual to see.

Maybe by portraying "Babylon" as an empire that controls the world, the prophets of the bible were just trying to say that one when empire grows enough in size to rule the world, the result will be turmoil and destruction. It could have applied to Rome, to Napoleons Europe, to any nation that was the "greatest" nation of its time. When one group of people control the world, others will suffer. Perhaps this is the simple message they were trying to get across.

First of all remember that many Biblical prophecies have multiple fulfillments and so the destruction of New York may be an archetype of the destruction of Babylon the great, who can say? However I think the Vatican is a much closer fit than the US or New York for many reasons.

The whore of Babylon sits on 7 hills and Rome has long been called the city of 7 hills.

Babylon often refers to false religion in the Bible as does a prostitute. God called Israel a prostitute when she went after false Gods. This fits the Vatican better.

The catholic church has killed millions of christians over the years. Foxe's book of martyrs is filled with many examples. Also with the idolatry, witchcraft, child molestation etc. going on in the catholic church you know it is heavily demonized.

I believe most of those quotes of the destruction of Babylon in Isaiah were already fulfilled with the destruction of the original Babylon. However I do believe the Bible does predict a nuclear war against America in Ezekiel 39

6 I will send fire on Magog and on those who live in safety in the coastlands, and they will know that I am the LORD.

How do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that he hasn't? Did he not say that he would come as a thief in the night? Yes, he did... How does a thief come? He comes without you ever knowing that he is there...

A new heaven and new earth is also currently being created in the physical realm as well... Hence, all of the natural cataclysmic activity we are currently experiencing. They are called "Birth pangs."

...I think it's a bit queer that several years ago, these same arguments were proposed to me as the reason why the Catholic Church was the "mystery-meat Babylon" of the Book of Revelations.

My conclusion, at this point, is that proof will be found wherever one seeks. Doesn't necessarily mean that what is proven is true; I could provide a barrage of images and emails here that "prove" I'm female -- but that wouldn't be the truth, would it?

All this talk about prophecies should have one thinking a bit further. If the holy books are correct, then righteousness (in whatever form it is preached) should be the primary concern of the believer. Seems to me that concerning one's self with the endless witch hunts for 'the antichrist' and 'Babylon the lesser-than-Darth-Vader-evil' is simply a distraction. Whether or not these things have come to pass, shouldn't 'believers' be more concerned with what they believe in (re: God and the finer points of religion)?

I trust my post won't be misconstrued as an attack on anyone's beliefs. I do however hope that it causes readers to view this discussion in a new light.

Jackdaw, sure.. Also, so much of prophecy gets blown out of proportion, especially the book of Revelation, due to modern man's imagination that it isn't even funny. Without an understanding of the ancient mind, one cannot even pretend to understand what their prophecies really meant.

Well I'm not going to reject 1/3 of the Bible because it contains prophecy. God put it there for a reason. End time prophecy is important to understand because of the widespread deception that is coming. What would happen to the believer if God never told us about the mark of the beast? After they start mandatory chipping (it causes cancer by the way and can be used for mind control), we would have been lost.

It also serves as a wonderful reminder that God is real. Just look at the rebirth of Israel or the rise of the one world government. All predicted in the Bible.

These are good points but it is still clearly missing some details. The US is not a religious system, the Vatican is. Moreover the Vatican has enriched herself immensely over the years and has ruled at least indirectly over many nations in the past. What is not well known is how much political power they still wield behind the scenes.

Also the United States can not be accused of systematically killing christians. The Vatican can. Again that's not to say that the destruction of the US would not be a partial fulfillment of this. Again double fulfillments are common.

Also I have an entirely different view on the US occupation of Iraq. You see Isaiah has said that Babylon will never be rebuilt and will be a ruin. Guess who tried to rebuild Babylon? Saddam Hussein. The Iraqi invasion interrupted his plans. Needless to say God will not allow it to be rebuilt and now it is being used as an ammo dump. I've heard that it is heavily contaminated with depleted uranium and is hazardous to enter there. This might delay the plan to rebuild Babylon for quite some time. God you see is sovereign. Woe to the nation that tries to rebuild it.

You do realize that "sorcery" in ancient days applied to druggists, right? It had nothing to do with what we term as "sorcery" today.

What you call his second coming did happen, like Jesus said it would. He told those people what they needed to know. He sure spent a long time teaching those people, what do you expect those people to do for you they are all dead?

Try reading over here. Theres tons of information all over this site. that can explain all of the bible, revelations, etc...
