A brand-new product called the Palm PHONE JAMMER is the first cell phone jammer that I'm aware of that's priced, sized and created like a mass-market consumer electronics device. The jammer is actually smaller than a cell phone, costs only $166 and shuts down GSM 850-, 900-, 1,800- and 1,900-MHz cell phone calls within a 30-foot radius.

In most countries considered highly illegal. Blocks any frequency, including emergency. Bankrobbers favourite toy I reckon.

I once had a long discussion with an engineering PhD student about how to construct a cellphone jammer. I was going to make it a home project, but I am lazy and too cheap to buy parts. It is also illegal to use, at least in a public place, because it can block emergency calls. I also wasn't convinced at the time that I could build a portable one myself, which is what I really wanted.

they have long range ones in springer new mexico because its a jail of some sort it used to be a boys home....but i could do more than jam a cellphone waaaay before this with this www.amazing1.com...

Thats actually a very good use for it!

But it could be a little dangerous playing around with it, especially if something bad happens and someone needs to call the police, ambulance etc.
