Pinot noir grapes have more genes than humans, scientists say, page

Not surprising to us Pinot drinkers out these but scientist mapping the Pinot Noir grape has 5-10000 more genes than a human. The Pinot grape has almost 2 times the number of genes dedicated to producing flavor.

The practical aaplication of this knowledge will take years to develop however, but may result in better breeding etc.
