Apparently being possessed with the Virgin Mary is not a blessed thing; it's heretical according to the Vatican.

These ancient nuns (most are over 80) believe the founder of their convent is possessed by Mary and are finding her teachings quite inspiring and believe they are following God's will by listening to Sister Giguere.

The vatican doesn't think so. In fact, they're foaming at the mouth over this incident, calling the nuns "deluded" at a press conference.

What if Sister Giguere really is being divinely guided? Who is the Vatican, or anyone for that matter, to say she is not?

What I find interesting about this is the fact that the entire Christian faith is based on people hearing the voice of "god" or "angels". So the entire premise of the religion is based on people being "delusional" and "hearing voices", if we are to apply the Vatican's reasoning on this.

Quite hypocritical.

Personally, I hope the nuns form a splinter group and install a female Pope. After all, with a name like "The Army of Mary", they'd be a force to be reckoned with!

The nuns also represent the idea of interpreting god's will for yourself, as opposed to having the good ol' boys at the Vatican do that for you.

This might be why the Vatican feels the need to excommunicate these women - they are a direct challenge to the restrictive, authoritative patriarchy of the Church. What if everybody started listening to the voice of Mary (or insert some other personage of reverence here) instead of the Pope? Heaven forbid!
