Utah: No more concealed gun permits for foreigners

news.yahoo.com

SALT LAKE CITY - Utah has stopped issuing concealed-gun permits to foreigners because of the rising number of applicants and the difficulty of conducting background checks.

"Utah had become the state of choice for people who did not live in the United States but wanted to carry a gun in the country," said Richard Wyss, attorney at the Utah Bureau of Criminal Investigation. State authorities "became alarmed," he told lawmakers Tuesday.

Over 30000 such permits were issued since 1995
. The biggest group of applicants came from Canada. Its amazing because in many states its pretty ahrd to get a permit to carry a concealed gun. But it looks like they have been handing them out in Utah. How exactly do you check someones background from outside the country?

Dont bother checking at all, Just ban guns and rifles. Anyone caught with a gun or rifle gets thrown in prison.

Sure... Bill of Rights be damned, it's just a "God damned piece of paper anyways."

No thank you, our Founding Fathers had the good sense to protect our right to keep and bear arms... I think we'll retain that right much to the chagrin of less free and more suppressed citizenry throughout the world.

If you're truly altruistic in your pursuit of our well being, then why not pursue a ban on motor vehicles, they kill many times more people than guns do.

Just make sure that when you craft your plan there isn't a CCTV watching you.

Free indeed.

So you do not believe in our constitution.

Thank you.

If you actually bothered to read anything about gun crime, you'd quickly (and therefore less ignorantly) realize that when you ban guns, only those who abide by the law lose them. Crime goes up, since only criminals have weapons.

But they also do a lot more good, providing communication abilities for people. Guns do nothing but kill.

Yes Free Indeed, more than you would know. I see you believe the BS about the Cameras in the UK without doing any research on it?. Typical!
You call yourself free?? With The Patriot Act??
HAHA

Your Constitution was written at a time when Guns were necessary.

In a civilised society which the US says it has, they shouldnt be necessary.

Actually guns deter far more often then they kill, so they do have another purpose.

But lets assume that there killing is bad enough to get rid of them, then by your logic we should also get rid of all military weapons since they only kill. And lets get rid of all the nukes while were at it.

Your point is not about guns, I don't here you talking about the military or police losing them, your point is who owns guns, so lets not throw around the they kill people argument
