The pictures are pretty detailed, my question... or challenge rather is to find an elephant or better yet a pack of elephants on google earth?

Seems simple yes?... I've spent a good amount of time searching with no luck...

I don't think I got the coordinates right, so here's a grid overlay for you to look for yourself.

Not sure how to cut and paste those yet. Anyone know how.

I can give you a herd of hippos.

Please, anyone, do you know how to make a Google Earth location into a link ?
Or even how to cut and paste coordinates for others to easily check

I think what amazes me the most is the resolution you can get.
Here's a clean picture of the far right side of the herd at hi-res:

You can almost count the freckles on their backs. (If hippos have freckles)

I'm using screen capture software to get these images from Google Earth, but that reduces the quality of the images. You can see them even better if you look at them on Google Earth for yourself......

I suspect the military already has satellites that can read a magazine over your shoulder in real time, and are able to see infra-red heat signatures of your body through the roof of your house.

The future is now, and it is a bit scary. :shk:

I'm paranoid now. Thanks guys. But that is quite amazing. I want to find something!

Does anyone remember that one time someone found a missile flying over Utah or somethin'? That was pretty scary stuff, ahaha.

How do you guys get all those detailed pictures? I downloaded Google Earth and all I get is blurry 3D terrain...

Great pix. Did you have to go to the GE forum to find them?

(You do realize, uh, that Google Earth pix are not taken by satellites? The low level pix are taken from planes.)

Most is done by sats. but some areas are done by plane.
And down to the ground, some cities are done with vans with cameras on them.
Google Earth even pays people to go out an photo specific places to add to their collection of seamless data.

Yeah, that pic of the hippos was taken from a light aircraft. Definitely not the normal resolution in Google Earth. Great find AD.

I have noticed that some cities like Wahsington DC for instance are brought into view much closer while other cities you can barely see people on the ground. I suppose it will be some time before every area of the planet is mapped out or maybe never? Maybe they will only map out the important cities?

I was under the impression that google earth was entirley done by satellite... very enlightening....

Oh and I am possitive that the military has this technology down to the tee!

I am a firm beliver that what we have now the government i.e. Military has had for 20+ years...

My ex girlfriends uncle was high ranking defence official... when I asked him what the technologys they currently have in use his only answer was "if I knew I most likely would go insane"

That statement alone still sends shivers down my spine!
