The world will end in 2060, according to Newton

Topic started on 23-9-2007 @ 10:50 AM by Smugallo

I recently came across this article (i had previously heard of the claim on a TV show, probably on discovery or something) and it involves a prediction from a very important scientific figure in our past, the great Sir Isaac Newton, using religion rather than science & rationality he predicted that the bible proved the world would end in the year 2060!

Here is a link to the article

Just goes to show, that the first real scientists were as confused by the bible as any modern creationist today.

The world's not going anywhere. And a bible prophecy is about as valuable as the paper it's printed on.

I personally am not religious in any way, and would never trust an ancient book with a thousand edits in it (this doesn't make me evil i shouldn't think) what is quite amazing though is that to guys like Sir Issac Newton, Science was a way to prove that god existed, and physics was just how he tried to understand 'Gods' ways, different story nowadays mind you, science and religion have reach a fork in the road.
