ATLANTA -- A young boy's mother drove a getaway car for her son and other local teens involved in a burglary spree, police said Friday.

Police continue to look for Lakechia Woodard, 36, for driving her 12-year-old son and three friends to a house off Flat Shoals Road where they stole 14 rifles.

The rifles were collectibles worth thousands of dollars. Electronics and clothes were also stolen.

Woodard then picked the young boys up after the burglary and drove them to the west end to sell the items on the street, police said.

One burglary victim said he was stunned a mom would help her 12-year-old carry out a crime.

"You pick your son up after he's done robbing a place? That's bad. That's bad on you," said a burglary victim's son, Willis Grant.

Police said they suspect Woodard drove her child to commit other crimes as well. Authorities said the Flat Shoals Road burglary was just one of over a hundred burglaries to take place in recent months at other homes in the area. Officials believe young kids are responsible for the burglaries and said the children often skipped school to commit the crimes.

Sir, they had EVERY opportunity I had.

Public school only works, if a person
sees it as an education, not a drug
deal opportunity.

It's called hard work.

I don't, nor have I ever bought into
the thinking of "they just want to be

I call B.S. (sorry, it gets me worked up)

I've been a drug addict. I've been homeless.

Know what ? I beat it !!

They can, too.

Do they even try ? No.

They take the easy way out.

This country is going to Hell in a
hand-basket because of your
attitude. (I'm not attacking you)

It's about self-respect.

These children are raised that it's
"normal" that dad is in prison, and
mom walks the street.

It's "normal" that noone they know
has a job. The Govt. provides a check,
and housing.

Why work ?

Self-respect, my friend.

They have the same opportunities you
and I had.

They chose wrong.
