Thanks for posting this it makes the situation even clearer, showing the fact they were trying to silence him from the start. He was laying down the context of his question, then asked the 3 he had on his mind in what I thought was actually an effective and efficient manner, albeit being grappled and cut off throughout. He was right to resist arrest, they had no right to lay even a finger on him, and I would do the same as him.

Further, it makes me sick to see some people here criticise the only guy with enough integrity and balls to stand up and ask the right questions for once. I hope this ends the other disinfo thread saying the guy planned to get tazed. I wish him a bright future in journalism, because frankly, it's going to take an army of Andrew Meyers to retake your country.

Freedom of speech does not give one the right to go way over the allotted time limit. This student created the situation. He deserved to be tasered.

One of the most rediculous statemens on ATS ever.

He may have been a little high strung when he spoke, but he didn't deserve a taser.
He's a college kid & seems to be pasionate about the subjects he was discussing. To say he deserved it seems a little harsh.

It's funny because I've never even heard of this incident, don't know the kid, but the amount of anger I was infused with while watching this is staggering, I was sooooo pissed after watching this video!! WTF is going on!? I wish I was there, so bad. Words can't even describe the negative feelings I got when I saw this video... wow...
I'll go find my stress ball now.

I am unable to fathom why no one did anything to help this guy. I know I would have most likely gone to jail or gotten tasered, or maybe worse, if I had been there. I could not sit back and watch something like this happen. It was horrific enough just on video. And to boot, I heard Howard Stern calling him names, saying the cops were right blah blah blah. Got me so irritated I could barely drive my car. That usually only happens when I'm laughing so hard - say what you want about him but his show is funny - but he lost brownie points in my book for his remarks.

Cops gone wild, man. Bad times are here.

I just wanted to add to the thread by also stating that i had been in a situation like that there is NO WAY that there wouldnt have been much more problems and me ending up in jail.

WHO COULD JUST SIT THERE AND WATCH THAT HAPPEN???!!!

I mean really, i would've just unloaded on those damn cops. I think if ONE person had stood against the cops then many more would have followed.

So many problems being started by police of late. not good

People keep saying he was resisting arrest, last time i checked you have to be arrested for something before you can resist that arrest.

When they cuff you and take you before that dont they tell you why you are being arrested? This didnt happen they just manhandled him to the ground and cuffed him.

So in my view we wasn't resisting arrest. He was resisting being manhandled, kidnapped, assaulted and tortured.

It´s a sad day when someone can´t ask a question to a politician about politics (I assume the subject at hand…) without a gang of government goons putting him on the floor and hurting him. Did this kid represent a threat to the senator? NO. Was there a reason to tase him as he was being pinned on the floor by 4 policemen and already in cuffs? NO. Was there anything wrong with his question? NO.

I used to think freedom of speech was for everyone, not just for those who supported a government. But today, to be the opposition means to be a rebel, terrorist, anarchist, murderer…

These cops should be charged with excessive use of force and acting against these kids writes (which the constitution protects…; Yes that pesky little paper that stops tyrants form turning you into an animal salve). People are to ignorant and blood thirsty today, I really hope everyone in that room who cheered gets their house raided by NWO geheim Polizei and put in a camp cause that’s what they deserve for being so incredibly ignorant. As for the cops (I don’t believe all cops are bad), I wish a group of “rebels” would hold them to the ground and tase them just for speaking their freaking mind (but this would be illegal wouldn’t it; their rights count because they support and endorse the government…).

As you can see I’m very disgusted by this, I would like to end my comment with a quote from a song that has kind of set my mood this year with all these ridiculous current evens.
“Were in the last days only darkness passes. No more fresh air only bloody money ashes.”
Jedi Mind Tricks.

He was resisting their lawful directions. If a cop tells you to stop or asks you for ID as example you are required to do what they ask even though you are not under arrest.

All it takes is one person to take initiative to defend him, and the rest who are unsure what to do, or don't have the guts to be the first one to get up, will follow along. Anyone clapping at that conference were pathetic guppies who are absolutely clueless, much less have no reason to be at an event like that.

So let me ask you something, if a cop tells you to stop and you just keep walking ignoring him what do you think will happen? If a cop tells you to get on the ground and you don’t, what do you think his next move will be? If a cop wants to escort you out of a building and you resist what is that cop’s next step? If you think the cop is being unjust then deal with it in court, to “not get the memo” might get you into trouble that you could have easily avoided.

Oh. My. God.

I've read some unusual, interesting news from ATS for a while before I registered, constantly in disbelief at how Iran has been building up...but nothing has made my mouth agape in horror, disbelief, disgust, and sadness. Nothing's moved me enough to make a post until this.

I feel really sorry for that kid, and for all those who'll be victims in the future of this...bullying

really, there should be some rule book. I would have been a little more calm while asking my questions. But, in his defence, he's young & full of energy. He is fighting for what he believes in. I applaude that. I saw no reason to grab him in the first place. Fredom of speach and all...

FREAKING AMAZING! The poor guy just asked a question and wasn't resisting arrest if being arrested is what you could call that.

Honestly, I cannot sit quietly any more...

The guy was NOT just asking a QUESTION. He was howling innuendo that wreaked of agenda at an opportune moment, fully knowing he was going to cause a problem.

I don't care one way or another of they why and what for - but if you have a valid point, don't stand carrying yourself as if to expect a conflict, firing comment after comment disguised by aggressive questioning, shouting your opinions disguised as statements, and then expect to be given a chuppachup and a pat on the back for the effort.

The guy was obviously looking for this. Im completely against corruption and politics in general for it's inherent corruption, but this guy makes my blood boil by his actions.

There is a rational and responsible way to go about these things - standing off and purposely seeking to antagonize people, is simply pathetic, really.

Either he had a valid query and was absolutely appalling at getting it across, or he was intentionally seeking conflict.

Also anyone else notice he sounds like Dane Cook?

...sorry I felt the need to point that out for some reason.

Exactly.. I'm appalled at how that even ended yet again with the police going over the top to the extreme..

I just find it offensive that people think his actions were honest. They were obviously not. But certainly not illegal.. that is for sure..

No one's mentioning this, but he was tasered because he wouldn't stop screaming at the top of his lungs. He was warned that continuing to scream would get him tasered and he kept on doing it.

The officers were just giving him what he wanted.

I wasn't aware that screaming was a taserable offence. It really bothers me the reaction of the students who cheered. This is not TV people. It's called real life, and in real life, this kind of conduct cannot be allowed, by the police or anybody. I feel my inner pacifist slowly dying, to the point where I feel that violence is the ONLY action that will get the attention of the powers that be. Heck, they already spread enough of it around the world.

I may be in Canada, but the americanization of our country is all around. Our PM wants to us to be the 51st state IMO. What goes on down there has more of an impact here than some realize. Maybe it's because over half our TV channels come from America, so we become a little more like you everyday. That used to be not so bad a thing, but now....

You used to be cool America.
