Glasgow University Rector Jailed in Israel

Mordechai Vanunu, a man who for decades has campaigned to tell the world of Israel's nuclear weapons, and who was jailed for 18 years for speaking about the atomic weapons they had at their base in Dimona, recently became the Rector for students at Glasgow University.

Since his release, he has been kept under restrictions and not allowed to leave Israel. When it was discovered that he had been in contact with Glasgow, he was charged purely with "speaking to foreigners" and given 6 months further in jail. His appeal has came up now, and the Scottish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) have started a petition to be taken to the Scottish Parliament on behalf of Mr. Vanunu in an attempt to have him released.

Regardless of your views on Israel, this is a gross insult to human rights worldwide, especially when he was arrested purely for releasing information on unchecked and illegal weapons made only to destroy.
