This was a very good item on the UK's Channel 4 news tonight.I think it will be of interest to American members especially.

North Korea's nuclear capacity

If President Bush wants to limit North Korea's access to nuclear weapons then he needs to act quickly.

According to an international think-tank the time frame for diplomacy is running out.

If America fails to halt the North Korean production then they could be producing up to 13 nuclear weapons per year by the end of the decade.

www.channel4.com...

Makes you wonder if Iraq was really the priority as concerns US national defence and not just the easier option.

If you don't have fuel to put in your tanks or aircraft then there is no sense worrying about fighting anyone.

I doubt that diplomacy will work with North Korea, did diplomacy every work with socialists?

In my experience only a strong arm is respected and since North Korea wants to continue to be socialistic and spread its brand of poison around the world then the US has only one option, take down North Korea.

We will be going to war with them soon. They won't be able to move their tanks, and detonate their "nuclear" weapons.

One problem on taking down North Korea. CHINA! This is one of the biggest problems on the world stage today. N Korea is one the largest international arms dealers on Earth (just behind us here in the USA). Only they give to the bad guys and we give to who we think in good (who will later become bad). See the difference

China is not a threat to us if we go to war with N. Korea. If a senario like this goes according to plan, we can take on both at the same time.

We have a last chance to cause a collapse from the inside due to outside pressures, if it fails then yes there will be a showdown.

A last ditched attempt by these totalitarian twits to cling to power.

Just think how good things would be for the average North Korean if they just gave up and reunified with South Korea. That is the proof there that so-called socialists like these do not CARE about the people but only themselves.

Just think how things will be good for everyone one of us, if we all stop fighting for power and money and live in peace and stop all the hatred. This is the proof that we do not care about the others, but only ourselves.

As long as man lives in the physical realm and everyone is at a different level of evolution and as long as the dark side interferes in the affairs of man, there will be conflict.

Exactly, now we know why North Korea doesn't want to unit with South Korea, don't we?

Hold on there sonny jim, we don't own all the oil fields yet you know.

All this shows is Bush's incompetency and corruption as a president, making oil instead of a priority instead of a country that admitts they have nukes.

The North Koreans are a pawn of China.

Without Chinese support Kim's government would'nt last a month, I think Bush should thumb his nose at Wal-Mart and tell the Chinese that they can handle the neighborhood bully or face an immediate halt to trade.

Sure there would be economic consequence's but in the long run it would be better to have the jobs back in this hemisphere.

China is not yet ready to face us down in an economic showdown much less militarily.

In a few short years if nothing is done we will wake up one day with a nuclear armed North Korea that has strong tendency to export arms it makes and a China that is both economically and militarily strong which we no longer have leverage with.

I agree. The North Koreans have a hard enough time feeding their people, let alone to continue a nuke program. If I was them, my mentality would not be to mass produce nukes: just a few is leverage enough to get America's attention. Which they did.

The North Koreans are eating grass for christs sake, how the heck can they continue with such an expensive program. I know they make money in dealing arms, but is it really enough to enrich uranium, and to keep plants running?

Nah, soon enough the people will get sick of cannibalism and a diet of weeds and sticks. They will rise up in the near future.
