Hmmm maybe. Did you notice that there was no overt show of arms or weaponry in this new video? Does that mean that OBL has foresaken the armed
struggle and with his new plea for America to become Muslim that he will seek to resolve his issues by quiet prayer?
Why doesn't anyone ever come to conclusions like that based on the 'signs' that are 'transmitted' via these things.
I can tell you one thing though as someone who grew up in the UK during the 70's and 80's I know what real terror is like. The Provisional IRA, a
real terrorist organisation, brought enough terror with homemade explosives and small arms. In all of their years (the longest peace time conflict in
history bar Israel / Palalstine) they never succeeded in pulling off the daring attacks that Al Queda are alledged to have done.
Why is that? With all of their funding (large amounts from the US I might add), fairly sophisticated weaponry, high levels of organisation and what
surely must be, compared to todays Orwellian levels, an under equipped set of security forces opposing them. Why did they never pull off anything on
the scale of 9/11? They wreaked damage with major bombs against civilian and military targets and over the course of the troubles killed thousands and
injured many more. They were not afraid to kill indiscriminately either, the pub bombings against unrelated civilian targets proved that.
I don't believe that a terrorist group of any kind, without the backing of at least sections of the US Government pulled off that attack on the
Pentagon and WTC. Look at their peers in Iraq? Bali? Somalia? Wherever? Small arms and improvised explosives - no WMD, no Die Hard style film plots.
This would be the scale of any 'real' terrorist attacks in the US. Look at Oklahoma.
I am not saying that your children are not under threat, that is a credible one given the weirdos around today but do not see this as part of a world
wide terrorist conspiracy. Remember that despite the shock and horror of an attack on a school in this way, that number of dead are down in the noise
compared to the many thousands who die in unrelated accidents and murders every day. This is what domestic terrorism is about, not doomsday scenarios
where there is anyone tangible to lash out at after. That terrorist could be an individual, they could be muslim or even christian the point is that
people are motivated to kill every day, some for a cause, some for whatever is in their head.
These things can only be fixed by negotiation with the main terrorist body, leaving only the usual isolated unhappy weidos with a handful of guns and
improvised explosives that every country has living within them. Fighting terrorism, especially in ways that alienate the populations they live
among, only adds to their ranks. History proves that.
