Actually if you check on the Customs & Excise website you will see that as from 01 July people are allowed to use up to 2500 Litres of Veg Oil per year without duty

And Ive never seen diesel with a blue dye at all. The Diesel sold at my local tesco's is a yellowish colour.

Thanks for that, I have been out of the country for a number of years so I am not up to date. I guess this may be a nod towards 'biofuel' - I remeber all of the fuss about vans running on chip oil smell smelling like the local fish & chip shop

The blue dye is probably me thinking of something else - I am sorry. Companies apparently sell blue dye to allow you to identify your DERV if your employees nick it.

Red Diesel Link

This is a link to a forum talking about removing the red dye, so I haven't imagined that.

Wiki Petroleum

This is a a wiki link that covers it a bit as well.

Thanks for the veg oil tip.

i didn't hear anything about the limos & stretch limos that the
well heeled have with cheuffers dong the driving & bodyguarding...

oh well, they wouldn't personally be levied a extra sur-tax for their
gas guzzlers...because only the middle classes 4X4s, humvees,
muscle cars are singled out as gas-guzzlers...

the elites are entitled to the heavily plated & sniper-proof vehicles
as their value to society is so much greater [/sarcasm]...
In any event...their Corp. or Ltd. picks up the tab for them anyhow,
they'll just pass the cost/expense on to the the middle class consumer,
and keep on rolling
