Jim,

I'm wondering if you have a view you could share re the hi number & bizarre deaths of dozens of Biologists of different specialties in the last few years?

One of the spookiest for me being the death of Harvard University molecular biologist, Don C. Wiley, who's rental car was found parked on a Memphis, TN bridge, 11/16/01. The body found 12/21/01, three hundred miles down the Mississippi River.

For ATS people wishing to read the background on the case:

Well, as far as the case you mentioned, it doesn't sound that "spooky". It seems to me that the guy parked his car on the bridge, jumped into the river and the current managed to carry his body some 300 miles in over a month's time. Nothing fishy there, just the work of the Mighty Mississippi!

In case it wasn't obvious, I was just pulling your leg!

I remember reading about this long list of scientists disappearing over recent years, and some of the ways in which they died were downright freaky! Maybe its just a gigantic coincidence, but if these lists are accurate, I think it's a statistical improbability. At the same time, I think we need to consider the possibility that a good number of these deaths were in fact as they appeared to be- suicides. Perhaps the grief of knowing what they knew and not being able to do anything about it led them to take their own lives. Or maybe threats against their loved ones by the powers that be led them to take their own lives in order to prevent any reprisals against their loved ones. Who knows?

But you pose a great question and I look forward to hearing what Mr. Marrs feels.

I could probably buy accident, suicide and the run-of-the-mill-murder on most deaths, and possibly a few of these. But one of them stands out among the rest for me. That would be the supposed suicide of the Tennessee scientist. Nothing about his death suggests suicide to me. I've had two suicides in my immediate family, and believe me, there is a history there. (of depression or trauma) when a person commits suicide.

Hi DJMessiah,

Population control's an angle but the demise of some of the top notch scientists in their fields is something I don't think's been answered from a Federal Invvestigation level. Seems to have been left in the hands of local Law Enforcement.

The other case that comes to mind was the bioligist set on fire and locked in the trunk of a car, ie:
_________

External Source:

"On January 7, 2005, Jeong H. Im, retired research assistant professor at the University of Missouri - Columbia and primarily a protein chemist, died of multiple stab wounds to the chest before firefighters found in his body in the trunk of a burning car on the third level of the Maryland Avenue Garage. MUPD with the assistance of the Columbia Police Department and Columbia Fire Department are conducting a death investigation of the incident. A person of interest described as a male 6 62 wearing some type of mask possible a painters mask or drywall type mask was seen in the area of the Maryland Avenue Garage."
__________

It was so deliberate according to the report I had wondered if it was not sanctioned?

Rasputin13,

Dunno if I feel the same about the deaths being suicides?, though I'm not disputing some might be. The case example posted below to DJMessiah for instance.

_____

mirageofdeceit,

That was a case covered in depth by the major news media, it caught my attention. It started out as a suspected suicide.

External Source:

"Dr. David Kelly—the biological warfare weapons specialist at the heart of the continuing political crisis for the British government—had links to three other top microbiologists whose deaths have left unanswered questions.

The 59-year-old British scientist was involved with ultra secret work at Israel’s Institute for Biological Re search. Israeli sources claim Kelly met institute scientists several times in London in the past two years."
I'll provide the 2006 link at the bottom of this post.

ignorant_ape,

Yes of course, but my thought was not the suicides but the mysterious deaths especially since the attack on the US Congress re Anthrax. Was it better to kill all the scientific-suspects to satisfy:

1. a message sent to future over-ambitious scientists:

- re deliberate use of biological weapons they have access to or can formulate outside the government connected lab?

- re prevent selling new technical stuff to foreign Spies respresenting a variety of Countries?

2. Wipe-out the trail to some scientist to ensure secrecy of some new biological weapon ?

____

janasstar,

I think we may be referring to the same case:

ES:
"...Dr. Don Wiley, 57, disappears during a business trip to Memphis, Tennessee. He had just bought tickets to take his son to Graceland the following day..."

DontTreadOnMe,

The Stand, S King:

en.wikipedia.org...

Wik: "The Stand is a post-apocalyptic Horror/Science Fiction novel by Stephen King originally published in 1978. It re-works the scenario in King’s earlier short story, "Night Surf" (included in the short story collection Night Shift). It is widely hailed by critics and fans as one of his best novels.[1]

The novel was re-released as The Stand: The Complete & Uncut Edition in 1990. King restored some text originally cut for brevity, added and revised sections, changed the setting of the novel from 1980 to 1990, and updated a few pop culture references accordingly. This edition featured art by Berni Wrightson.

A TV miniseries based on The Stand and scripted by King himself was released in 1994..."
