The Tokyo University inventors dubbed their method "surrogate broodstocking." They injected newly hatched but sterile Asian masu salmon with sperm-growing cells from rainbow trout — and watched the salmon grow up to produce trout.
This is a strange story. They say a lot of hybrids were produced that couldn't survive. They also tried injecting a female salmon with male trout sperm cells, causing it to ovulate trout eggs! These are some strange happenings, and I never even thought this type of experiment was remotely possible.
