Czech speedway rider knocked out in crash wakes up speaking perfect English

www.dailymail.co.uk...

When Matej Kus's teammates heard him talking after he was knocked out in a speedway accident, they were relieved he was conscious.

But they were also a little surprised.

For although the 18-year- old Czech knew only the most basic English phrases, he was conversing fluently in the language with paramedics.

Peter Waite, the promoter for Kus's team, the Berwick Bandits, said: "I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

"It was in a really clear English accent, no dialect or anything. Whatever happened in the crash must have rearranged things in his head.

"Before his crash Matej's use of the English language was broken, to put it mildly.

"He was only just making a start on improving it and struggled to be understood, but was keen to learn.

"Yet here we were at the ambulance door listening to Matej talking to the medical staff in perfect English.

"Matej didn't have a clue who or where he was when he came round. He didn't even know he was Czech.

"It was unbelievable to hear him talk in unbroken English."

Alas, Kus's new-found language skills didn't last.

The teenager, who injured a knee in Sunday's accident in Glasgow, is once more struggling to make himself understood in English.

After flying home to the Czech Republic to recover, he said - through an interpreter - that he remembered nothing of the accident or of the following two days.

Yesterday he added: "It's unbelievable that I was speaking English like that, especially without an accent.

"Hopefully I can pick English up over the winter for the start of next season so I'll be able to speak it without someone having to hit me over the head first.

"There must be plenty of the English language in my subconscious so hopefully I'll be able to pick it up quickly next time."

After the accident, team spokesman Lawrence Heppell said: "He was out cold for 45 minutes and he has been told by the medics to rest for at least a month.

"Matej could only string two or three words of English together and now he can speak it like a native, it's incredible."

Mr Waite added: "I've heard of other people getting knocked out and waking up talking fluent Italian or in one case even developing a Welsh accent.

"I never really believed it was possible but this incredible thing was happening in front of us."

Its thing like that ^, that make me question that really put my reality into a spin!

I posted this story in ATS today because I find it to be wonderful evidence of something paranormal happening....but the post was mysteriously moved to BTS. I ´ll be curious to see what happens to your post.

wow, that is fascinating.

It's perhaps the first non-religious story ive heard on this subject (as opposed to speaking in tongues, etc.)

Can we assume this guy at least heard what he was talking about prior? As in, he wasnt inventing words of the top of the head that his brain has never encountered before? If he has, then I guess thats a place to start. If he hasnt...the whole "collective knowledge" thing is a much more fascinating place to be.

I've got a theory, but it's nothing more than a guess; no proof behind it.

The article says that this guy knew basic English. That means he'd had exposure to the language, perhaps through a class or through associates speaking English. It is extremely reasonable to suppose that he had heard far more English than he was able to remember (at least consciously), much in the same way that I sat through seven years of french class in grade school and still suck at it. So anyway, I am wondering if somehow, as the guy hit his head, his brain got shaken up in some way that produced a similar, temporary effect to hypnosis or autohypnosis. I'm thinking along the lines of people who listen to language tapes in their sleep or getting hypnotised to stop smoking.

Like I say, just a guess. I doubt we'll ever know what really happened, but the amazing potential that is here should be investigated. Imagine if we could do this deliberately. (without the physical trauma!)

When I read this article I hate to say it but I instantly thought maybe he was temporaily possed or something... but maybe it was like a coma thing? Maybe his brain needed to reboot, but he used his knowledge of English and what his subconsious picked up on? Who knows... the brain and body can do things I think that no one knows about yet.

The Speedway reflexes, might mean I get my hot food arriving hot and not at the temperature of salad...that seems to be the custom in London
