Sounds good. I will alert you if we have had any activity as well. We did have a 4. something two days ago in Anchorage, but the depth was around 67miles down, so most did not feel it...

Cool. I wouldnt worry about the "big one" happening here either. Earthquakes and volcanoes occur to release energy from within the earths crust. The less large earthquakes, the higher probability that that a monster quake will happen. California is a good example, im not sure when the last huge one was, but i think it was 1988 (correct me if i was wrong), which means that this area is overdue.

Also just checked up the volcano warnings, nothing standing out at the moment apart from a few normal seismic events from Krakatau and Ibu

Yeah, they are way overdue for one...If you don't know already, here is a link to the earthquakes we get everyday:

www.aeic.alaska.edu...

it has been quite active in the past few days...

There was an incident similar to this in Peru about a month ago, as I'm sure everyone remembers.

Any one else see any type of connection in the "multiple large earthquake at once" phenomena??

There's no connection, this happens on a daily basis. The earth needs to relieve pressure building in its crust so it does so through earthquakes and volcanoes.

PADANG, Indonesia — A series of powerful earthquakes has terrorized residents in western Indonesia — including one that triggered a tsunami warning Friday — leaving thousands sleeping on plastic sheets in the hills. Seismologists warn the worst may yet to come.

This is getting interesting... Are these quakes just a harbinger of even worse ones to come? Let's just hope Sep. 14th goes by without further calamity...

I have been wondering about that myself. Here's a thought: Is it safe to assume that these rolling quakes are purely the result of Mother Nature doing her work?

Oh yeah it would be a safe assumption. I don't think anyone would benefit from rocking Indonesia. Besides, the whole place is practically volcanoes and fault lines. Have a look at the map I linked below:

Tectonic Plate Map, now with volcano icons and plate movements in cm/year!

Yeah, that thought crossed my mind. Man certainly has the ability to set off quakes if they wanted too, but I can't establish motive.

Just my conspiratorial mind in overdrive!

That part of my brain was on overdrive yesterday night, when I surmised that it could be Russia and their earthquake machine trying to trigger a chain-reaction that would eventually set of the Big California Earthquake.

But I quickly dismissed the idea as having too many unknown variables to control.

Ok, another one in the same spot... 3rd one.

We are going to keep seeing more and more of these all over the world for a few years now until the pole shift.

It seems we are about to get dead one way or the other in the next couple of years, weather its by a asteroid, or a pole shift, a world war 3 or whatever...

Im still hoping for First Contact from aliens to get us the hell off this planet.

Check out this page at USGS, it is the running tally of 5.0 or higher quakes from the past 7 days:

Latest Earthquakes M5.0+ in the World - Past 7 days

These are just the ones from today (as of 7:45AM EST) and most of them, from Indonesia.

The activity has been amazing the past few days, it seems that only the 6.0+ are being reported as events, so does that mean all those under 6.0 are considered aftershocks?

I've been following this too, at this site

www.iris.edu...

When you look at the last 30 days section, it's crazy, it seems to list about 50 in indonesia in a few days, and i think there are at least 20 more that are smaller so not reported.

I don't know much about earthquakes but this all seems crazy to me.

The newest earthquake I can find out there on USGS is a 5.4 within the last hour, south of the Fiji Islands. Has that one already been reported?

I just checked out IRIS and a headline said, experts warn of " big one."

Today is the 14th all we can do is watch and listen.
