Chemical Factory On Fire In Scotland

A large fire has broken out in a chemical factory in Scotland, the fire service has said.

Strathclyde Fire and Rescue said the blaze broke out at the ICI plant, at Stevenston in Ayrshire.

Its quite a huge fire from the footage.

No idea was has caused the fire, but its worrying at a chemical factory.

I was hoping it was a UFO crash, lol. On the news they weren't sure exactly what was burning but it was 100ft flames. Aw well.

Hope nothing to bad gets in the air. Would hate to see people get hurt miles away due to a stupid fire

It's near me, I went down for a look about half an hour ago. The fire looked like it covered a large area, but it seemed to be dying down a bit when I left. The BBC are reporting it as a chemical explosion involving flammable nitro-cellulose.

The whole area is covered with buried explosive material. It was the site Alfred Nobel set up to develop dynamite.

Only a 5 minute walk from me, I took a walk down as well. The sky looked very weird for a while.
