This is not unprecedented. NASA made the same mistake when they faked the moon landing.

They did not paint over the markings on a rock in this image at location marked R:

look at the one. it is a continuation of the cleft below it. your minds are filling in the blanks. the nine is just a circular depression forming a shadow and a little trench forming the stem. it is a shadow, people! (SHADOWPEOPLE! EEK!)
and this from a guy who doesn't even believe we're on mars (me).

They would probably say something booring and skeptical, i.e. "It's a natural coincedence"

Nice one....i think NASA just does this to keep us occupied...to keep us off the REAL conspiracies up there.

The funny thing is that this photo is from a government website. Maybe the rover etched it with a robotic arm.

I agree. if you take a step back and squint your eyes, you can see that it is just shadow and your mind is makeing it appear to be numbers. Im sure we will eventually make an insane discovery, but as for looking for signs in rocks, im sure NASA is keeping those images to themselves - that is, if in fact these images do exist.

i say it has been airbrushed in by someone....
the rock itself has that "doctored" appearance..

If it hasn;t been doctored then someone in the Mars props department needs his arse kicked...
