Judge strikes down parts of USA Patriot Act

U.S. District Judge Victor Marrero ordered the FBI to stop issuing “national security letters,” which secretly demand customer information from Internet service providers and other businesses.

The landmark anti-terrorism law, he ruled, violates the First Amendment and the Constitution’s separation-of-powers provisions because it prohibits recipients of the letters from revealing their existence and does not provide adequate judicial oversight of the process.

I'm delighted that someone is actually reviewing the Patriot Act 2. Unfortunately the judge put his own ruling on hold to give the White House time to look into an appeal.
