I don't know about that statement, both sides have pretty big allies. These are the possibilities:
US-Canada, Australia, Israel, Germany, UK, Japan, Turkey, and NATO.
Countries signed with the NATO treaty: Belgium, Denmark, France, Iceland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Greece Spain, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, and a few more. I am not saying all these countries will go to war, but NATO was designed for "the organization established a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defence in response to an attack by any external party."

Iran-Lebanon, Syria, China, Russia, India or Pakistan, Afghanistan, Venezuela and North Korea.

So I think it will be an equal fight, and the rights to write history is for the winner to decide. Maybe that is why US is provoking Iran. So they can get NATO on their side.

I love threads like this. They bring the irrational, frothing at the mouth, America haters out of the wood work. It's especially funny to hear people complain about how "violent" the U.S. is when it's the Europeans who started BOTH world wars. Anyone who thinks the U.S. is committing genocide in Iraq or Afghanistan, needs to look up that word. If we just wanted to kill civilians there would be B-52 raids day and night over population centers. THAT would be genocide. The few civilians that are dying over there are usually killed by IED's or suicide bombers, not U.S. forces. You people need to get a grip on reality.

Another thing, please stop touting Russian military equipment as being up to par with U.S. equipment. It's not. Not even close. Even the newest Russian crap rolling off the assembly doesn't stand up to Western, let alone U.S., standards. Anyone that thinks a few Russian SAMS are going to even slow down the U.S. Air Force, is smoking something. The U.S. is the best in the world at supressing enemy air defenses. All those Russian SAMS mean is there will be more dead Iranian radar operators. Bank on it.

With ALL these U.S. military presence in and around Persian Gulf, if I would be Iran, I would also want to buy every possible anti-aircraft weapon there is. With things going "smoothly" in Iraq these days, one can only imagine the fear, which is present in everyday Iran, when certain world presidents call-out for massive air-strike with possible nuclear weapons.

Russia, China, Iran, Syria, Venezuela, and Cuba vs America, Canada, UK, Israel, and maybe UN? This will be a catastrophic war, because of all the nukes each country has. Maybe Bush knew all along that Russia, and China were on Iran's side and that is why he has that many troops in Iraq.
This war will destroy many lives, and once it ends guess what! A few years down the road we will probably be ignorant and have another war until we wipe out 3/4ths of the planet. Then maybe we can learn a good lesson about fighting with each other rather then trying to advance in technology.

Maybe a war like this is just what this world needs to end the greed and help us not take life for granted anymore.

You forgot that Japan, Taiwan and South Korean would be on the US side and I think France would be some other Europeans would be also.
Also, this would be WWIII and there would be no other war after that, There would be nothing left except scattered groups of hungry, wounded nomads. Also, Syria, Cuba and Venezuela would be renedered useless on the first day.

I don't pretend to know why you would put such a big part of your military on your enemies doorstep when you know they have missiles capable of hitting them. I think you need to go reread Russia's weapons, I assure you U.S. will not last 2 weeks against Russia, Iraq's SAMs were old delapitated 60's era SAM's, if Iran had 2000 S-400 the U.S. would'nt last unless they launch 2000 drones, in 1999 NATO was forced to fly no less than 15K feet above ground over Serbia because of the well kept 60's era SAMs, and the Patriot is/was a joke Russia has the BEST SAMs in the world, and I challenge you to proove me wrong, many have blammed Russia for boasting, but few have did the research that actually prooves Russia's boasting was/is correct, here's some info you should have know, after doing 7 years of research I'm convinced the U.S. uses "media trickery" to make it self seem more advanced/powerful militaraly than Russia.

I'm not denying that those weapon systems exist, I'm saying they're woefully inadequate to blunt any U.S. attack. The proof is the fact that everywhere the U.S. goes, they have air supremacy in the first couple days of operations. That's my "proof".....that's real, not a posted link to some unproven weapon system.

And yes, everyone knows the Patriot system had problems......in 1992. How does this support your argument that Iran could stop a U.S. attack?

I was posting those links about the Patriot because EVRYONE was told/ and STILL thinks most of Iraq's Scuds were brought down by them, which was not the case, and if Iraq had better SAM's like 2000 S-300V/ S-300 PMU-1's U.S. would not have had air suprenacy, if you bothered to look at the details of why Iraq and any nation that goes against U.S. losses the air wars it's because of these reasons.
